I have 3000 miles on my 2002 Ram 2500 and plan on changing the oil before I leave on an extended trip to Yellowstone. I read where synthetic oil should not be used before 20,000 miles. Does this apply to the Rotella-T? Thanks Bernie

No, you can use Rotella-T right from the git-go. You're going to think you have a leak after the change though, Rotella tends to stink for around 500 miles after a change, more than most other oil brands. It's just additives in the oil burning off and is no problem whatsoever. That's why some folks call it Rotasmella.

Hey Bill,

I think he was refering to Rotella-t 5-40 synthetic.

I know that it is not a true synthetic but does it still apply?
