Rotor plash shields

Just a quick question... Im replacing the splash shields for the rotors and was wondering if I should paint them or maybe use undercoating to keep them from rotting out again... . any ideas?

I've never bought new ones but if they come unpainted I would at least paint them.

If you undercoated them you would have to avoid the areas where metal to metal contact occurs as it might make the shield too thick. It would just rust out in these areas first.
