I bought my truck new in the fall of '98. The last seven years or so the empty ride has been getting worse as the road conditions deteriorate. I also think the Michelin LTX M/S2 tires ride stiffer than the previous tires. I have my air pressure at 55F/40R when empty. I had SkyJacker hydro shocks(soft ride) on and decided to try the blue and yellow Bilsteins everybody raves about. Those made my empty ride much stiffer(worse) and when two of them started leaking at only 15,000 miles, I ditched them and went back to the cheap proven SkyJacker hydros. The ride was immediately much softer. The last two years the road ridges have gotten a lot worse to the point I have to slow down to not beat the truck and myself apart. I have been researching and considering changing out the rear springs to something better, but kind of dragging my feet because I didn't want to drop the fuel tank. After more searching on here and other forums, I decided to try a set of Rancho 9000's on the back of my truck. I took it over that rough stretch of highway at 60mph and could not believe the night and day difference over any shock I have had previously, good enough I am leaving my springs alone. I wish I would have done these years ago. I can not overstate enough the improvement these made for my situation. I towed my tractor last night and turned the rears up to 5 and it was good in that scenario also.

I thought I'd put this out here to maybe help anybody else in the same boat. I am not bashing any brands, just telling my story.

Dan
