Question: Broken Bone Pain?

Diesels @ Indy

As much as I hate to interrupt the ongoing chat about redheads and cross-dressing, I must now direct your attention to a more sedate topic.

I had a routine physical in July, prostate check, blood work etc. Just got the bill and it's for $435!!! A half hour chat and a needle in the arm now costs $435?

Of course, my wonderful health care insurance came through as usual and paid $100. Woohoo!

I think I'm gettin' gouged by the Doc. But maybe that's just what things cost nowadays. What's everyone else payin' for a routine physical?

Tim

$10 co-pay :)

The Health & Safety Dept of Montana St. University, for whom I work, comes by yearly for blood work. They said their cost per sample to the lab was $220.

This is in bulk so $435 might not be that far out of line for a physical.

I had to take a friend to the emergency room the other day which has a clinic associated with the hospital. Whilst in the waiting room they had a sign posted for services (which I think was oriented towards folks w/out insurance. ) They had complete physical examinations offerd for $95. I don't know if it included the "rubber glove treatment. "

I get the $10 copay treatment too. Then AFLAC gives me a donation of about $75 for bending over at the doctor's office. On top of that, I get the day off with pay (called a personal day). Then workers comp pays me the same whether I work or not. Working for the tax payer ain't so bad after all :)

$5 includes everything, even the blood work, $10 for a trip to the cardiologist, and $10 for a visit for a echiocardiogram or a nuclear stress test. Like the others said, the county gov has good benefits.

I read an interview the other day with a retiring MD. After a batch of other questions, the interviewer had one final question; "What single thing would you recomend people do to extend their life?"

The Doc's response was, "Stay away from Doctors!"

Doctor mistakes result in 300,000 deaths per year. If you add in the mistakes by hospital staff and pharmacys, it becomes the single greatest cause of death in the USA. Save your money!!!

Now aren't you reassured??

what physicals? what insurance? Stay away from doctors? sure. I haven't been to one in 3 years because I havent had any insurance.

Doctors are highly overrated anyway regarding the bills... . and its a sad state for me to say this... because they kept me alive in the beginning. (they're all retired now) Times change.
