Looking to switch from the peanut jar catch can directly above the u-joint behind the front diff and tryout an extension of the crankcase vent tube to the rear of the truck along the frame someplace between the back of the cab to just pass the spare tire. Taking a poll.

I would avoid a long run, especially if there is no downward slope. Condensation could collect in the extended line resulting in excessive back pressure for the engine crankcase. During below freezing temperatures the condensation could freeze solid and completely stop the crankcase from venting - result..., leaky engine seals, or even a pushed out seal.

I extended mine a bit years ago with a large diameter hose I happen to have laying around. Maybe 3 feet can’t remember. Tie wrapped it up I had auto start and when I came in from working I would click the button to start and let it warm up while I put my company truck in the garage etc ready to go home. 15 - 20 below. I came out to oil all over the ground. The front seal had blew out when the condensation and oil etc could not get out at the end Froze up Dodge dealer put a new seal in it. Wasn’t cheap can’t remember. I cut the curved up part off with a hack saw. No problems since. In cold climates it will be a mistake to make it to long. The front underside of my truck will never rust and it still drips on the garage floor.

I'll just keep using the vented catch can.

When I replaced my tappet cover, I blocked it off and vented it from the valve cover. I purchased dual valve covers that are supposed to rout the oil back down into the head. I decided to only use one (#2&3 cylinders) because I didn't like having a remove to covers for #s 4&5 to get to #6. I wanted a little more venting, so "temporarily" I removed the fill cap and zip-tied a sock over it. I have nothing over the valve cover vent. That was a year and half ago, yeah-yeah others projects, but I get no oil in the engine compartment. My thoughts were the more places you can vent it and the higher the vents, the less oil will get sprayed and leak. Seems ti be working, but my truck has very little blow-by though. Below is the valve covers. Come to think of it, I have another vented calve cover in the garage that I bolted on, but never used. I'm not trying to peddle anything here, but PM me if interested.

I picked up one of these for my #1 valve cover.

Now that you got me thinking about it, I may order one of these today to replace the old sock.
