AFE Magnum Force questions???

Zerex G-05

I am getting ready to change my transmission oil and i have been looking into royal purple. One of my co-workers said check the viscosity of the oil because some oils can be to thin and the there is'nt enough friction for the syncros to grab. So my question for you guys is anyone using royal purple in your 6spd and have you had any problems with this or any other problems?

Thanks Corey.

I assume you're refering to the Synchromax. I ran it in my 01 6sp and will put it in my 03 6sp after I get a few miles on. Worked great for me.

Just a heads up

I had a NV 5600 fail in my 2001.

First thing DC wanted was fluid samples

Luckily I had the stock stuff and the next thing I was doing after this trip when it failed was to change it out to something different.

My warranty repair took over 30 days becasue of the fluid tests.

Dealer told me if it came back with anything other then what MOPAR says... I'd have a fight on my hands to get warranty and he was not going to help. He had it happen on two other transmissions, one was stock fluid, the other was not... and I don't know what it was but the dealer guessed 5W30 synthetic.

No warranty on that one.

Apparently some gear sets were defective and mine was one of them... so naturally DC said to fix the failed gears. That lasted about two blocks and the rest of the gears failed for the mechanic... new transmission arrived two weeks later. Just thought I would let you know this.

Magnuson-Moss Fair Trade Act

If the '*******' is going to void warranty on a trans for anything but the "factory fluid' then by the Fair Trade Act, the fluid has jsut become part of the warranty and must be provided 'free' for the length of the warranty.

RP Synchromax has proven to be an excellent alternative to those with the NV5600 looking for some improvement over the stock fluid. RP Synchromax has not been involved in any warranty disputes.

If you are in a situation where the factory has jsut replaced a faulty NV5600 with a new transmission, my recommendation would be to run the fluid that the '*******' wants to be run. On the other hand, if you have 10,000+ on a transmission and are just not happy with the shifting, give the RP Synchromax a try. It has helped out many who were not satisfied.

The Fair Trade Act also requires that the manufacturer, in this case DC, can not void a warranty just for the use of an aftermarket part but must 'prove' that the use of the aftermarket part was the cause of the failure.

Use what suits your situation, but lemmings that are afraid to move away from factory recommendations should be happy when falling over the cliff with all the other lemmings content with factory performance levels. Crappy paint, fuel level guages that don't work, throttle cables that fray, rear windows and brake lights that leak, frames that crack, etc. to name a few.

I have rp in every thing but the transmission, and about 3 months ago my tcase lost a bearing and dodge fix all under warranty and did not even question the rp. I may have just had an idiot working on my truck.

I have never heard of a dealer not warranty something that has a synthetic oil in it, even if it is not the stock oil. Is this a common problem? Because I still have about 40,000 left on the factory warranty and I really can't afford to have any major repairs that dodge is'nt going to cover because of a better oil. I guess the big question is have any of guys have had any problems with the 6spd and rp?

I'm the furthest thing from a lemming

And as my post stated... just a heads up on WHAT COULD HAPPEN with some dealers.

Cut me some slack and I'd appreciate not being referred to as a lemming for merely pointing out what happened and COULD HAVE OCCURRED.

Believe me... I would certainly be fighting if something was an issue for me on my truck when I was actually improving upon its function.

I sorry i wasn't trying to call you a lemming or anything bad, I know you are just trying to help me and i just got a little nervous because i already rp in my diffs and tcase and if that voids the warranty i could be screwed. :( But anyway i called my dealer today and talked to the service advisor's and he told me that it wouldn't be an warranty issue(at this dealer) but he told me that other dealers might have a problem warranting it. :--)

COOL...

I know my dealer would not be a problem but this one, I had to go to as the truck was down.

I don't even look like a lemming and I had nightmares of lemmings driving Dodges with paint falling off, Fords cackling and stalling and GM's with diesel fuel pouring out their air box from leaky injectors and all these lemmings were headed to the CLIFF!

:{

Sorry if I got you all nervous... that was not the intent.

I better not dream like that again. :{ :p

Don't want to offend, but why not just run the factory juce?

My transmission shifts real, real smooth. I've gotten comments about how well it shifts from the local alignment guru who drives lots of trucks.

I know my truck shifts as easy as any 6 speed out there and I don't worry when I'm on long trips about transmission failures and having to try and sneak it past a dealer for warranty repair.

Just a thought...

This is from ONE of my failed trannys, the current transmission is doing fine and has lasted longer then the other ones (2) on RP Synchromax. It appears the OEM oil jellies under high (towing below max GW) temps. This *may* be why the bad trannies worked good initially but failed after 30k or so miles.
