I was poking around the internet and ran across some sites that said Cummins doesn't want moly in thier engines and that RP uses moly. I can't find anywhere that this is true. It was most evident on a competitor's site. I just did an oil change with Delo 400 and used the last of my supply. I was thinking about next change moving to synthetic and wanted to find information on several different products. It seems that RP and Amsoil are the two main ones on here, but a lot of the syn talk is about trannys and diffs. Does anyone have any "for real" info on RP, Moly, and Cummins?

Cummins also only wants a max of 20% soydiesel, but I've run 99% with great results, it has more lubricity and power. I am looking to run royal purple when I switch to synthetic also, let me know Cummins reply.

mberry, good idea. I get so used to finding everything I need on the net that I sometimes forget that contact, even if just an email, is still a good thing. I'll attempt to contact Cummins and see what they say.

In issue 56 page 52 of the oil review Cummins endorsed Valvoline Blue shows a dose of moly. I ran RP synthetic for approx, 10k miles before the 53 block saga with no ill results. I may be going back to it soon as the miles are back up on the 56 block.

The recent inclusion of Moly and Boron in Delo 400 is the main reason I stick with it - plus the excellence of the base stocks they also use. If I thought there was a BETTER oil in Delo's price class, I'd sure be using it... ;) :D

Only ones campaigning AGAINST use of Moly, as far as I can see, are those NOT using it but wishing they were... :-laf

delo or prem blue?

I read the article on oil in the recent mag. I have used Chev Delo400 in the past, but after reading the article I thought I would switch to Val Prem Blue. When I read the label, Delo is CI4+, Prem Blu is CI4-, so being confused I didn't purchase any. Even though Delo was not in the test results, and Prm Blu was recommend as the best tested, would the CI4+ rating be better?

Thanks, Ken

The Delo CI4-Plus is basically the latest of the Delo CI production, and includes the Moly and Boron earlier non-Plus Delo did not. I am convinced there is no better Dino-based lube available for our engines - but that is purely a personal opinion.

Happy to say, I have laid in enough of the stuff to last about 5 years at current change interval... ;)
