I have a 98 12v that will have a quick spike in Rpm when you let off the throttle it is very quick and is more pronounced when the engine is cold
the engine has just been rebuilt but I used the P pump that was on the motor I did put 4000 rpm springs and a #10 plate in it the previous owner
said the pump was rebuilt about 10000 miles ago. I was wondering if I did not get the tension on the gov. springs right could that do it. It runs
great other than that it is not a problem it is just annoying. Any ideas would be of great help and very much appreciated. Thanks for reading
my post hope some body can help.

The biggest problem with 3 and 4k spring kits, from my reading, is idle adjustment. The only way to find out for sure is to adjust them a click, one way or the other.

Thank you for the suggestion I have played with the springs but have been afraid to do much with out some more input from somebody that has more knowledge
but I might get brave and try again Thanks again for the help

Touchy 4k gov kits are spoken of occasionally, just google it. Most just make it a 3K kit if backing off doesn't work. Found out not all the vendors use the same set up too, gotta go by the directions of the actual vendor. I used the City Diesel 3k kit, it uses less tension then the Piers kit if I remember right. I went with the 3,000 rpm kit after reading all the trouble threads, less set up issues, works fine with the stock valve springs too.
