RPM reduced on G56 06 w/3.73

I have read posts with interest regarding high rpm on the G56. Called Blumenthal's in Oklahoma City. Their axle dept said there was no rearend swap available as of this date. They indicated the rearend was American Axle and not Dana as I thought. This left me w/ two options imo. 1. do nothing and live w/ the higher than desired rpm 2. swap tires. I chose option 2. Put takeoffs from H2, BF Goodrich 315/70 R 17 diameter 34. 5 versus stock Michelins of 31. 4 inch. RPM at 70=2009 vesus 2207 w/ stock. A calculated 8 . 9percent reduction in rpm. The BFG tires are load range D rated at 3195# w/50 psi cold. I thought it would be an interesting field test. Any input would be appreciated.

how much and where is the best place to find the hummer take offs??

I don't know if that is the best, but convenient to me.

I field tested the BFG 315/70 R17 and they accomplished the reduction in RPM I was seeking, however there was one small rub, no pun intended. The tires did rub the upper link on passenger side when at full lock right. That was not acceptable. I was assured that they had no issues , but they had never put them on a 06 Megacab 4X4, only Quad cab 4X4 05 and earlier.

I am curious if any of you would know the coefficient of friction difference between the stock Michelins and the BFG all terrain KO. The rolling resistance was noticeable. The truck did not roll out as easily in 3rd on flat ground as w/ the stock tires at dead start

The problem I see with this is the overall height of the truck after this modification. Mine barely fits into the garage as is. How much overall height change did you experience after doing this?

according to BF Goodrich website 1. 6 " in ground clearance difference. @ BFG website homepage . Go to ask the experts and you will find all sorts of helpful info regarding tire mods, i. e. speedometer calibration, effective rear axle change, etc.



I found that the tires handle much better than the stock Michelins for my purposes, better dirt and light mud, crisper steering, a slight increase in road noise, but very tolerable. They probably are not up to the max towing as they are load range D
