I just installed my RS9000 shocks. No big problems. The shock tower and shock came out through the engine compartment in one piece. Just be sure to compress the old shock and wire it together so it will come out. What gets me, is now I want a Racnho steering stabilizer only to find out they don't have one for my truck! I just got off the phone with the Rancho tech rep and he verified what National tire and Wheel told me. Not one for the 1999-2000 trucks.
Anyone out there know if one for a 1998 will fit the 1999 trucks?

That's not quite true. For whatever reason, Rancho gives various answers to the question of a steering stablizer for the 98+ dodges. But one does exist - RS5404. It is a 5000 series stablizer, and fits perfectly and works perfectly.

The only issue I had when installing one on my 99 was that one of the rancho sleeves wasn't spread out enough, so the mounting bolt would not slide into it. I just used a sleeve from the stock stabilizer. Though it was a pain to remove, it worked just fine.

Craig

ps. I beleive you can get an RS5404 for $49. 00 from http://www.wrenchhead.com

The front suspension has been redesigned on the 2000-2001 trucks. I have not looked at a '99 but the steering stabilizer is in a different place on my '00 vs. the old '96.

When I installed my Bilstien shocks, I asked the man at OffroadWarehouse.com if there was an after market replacement for the front stabilizer. .

I was told... and I quote... "Even if the factory unit needs to be replaced... put another factory unit in. . The one issued with the truck was the best one we have tested. . "

Horse Hockey... maybe... ... ...

However, I've heard the same thing from others as well.....
It may be true...

Good parts from the factory????

Well... Bill Kondolay also told me that the friction material in the Stock TC was also the "Best He's Ever Seen". .

Maybe once in a while DC hits a solution square on the nose... .

Anything's possible!!??!!??!!

Contact Skyjacker. Mine came with my lift kit. They also make a dual steering stabilizer. There web address is www.skyjacker.com . -Glen

Has anyone tried that REAL EXPENSIVE steering stabilizer that was discussed (a link was also provided) three or four months ago? I saw this in a Camping World catalog, applications were listed for Motorhomes as well as 3/4 an 1 ton trucks. I was just wondering if it was worth the mega $$$$ they wanted for it.

I may be bats but after smashing my second stabilizer, I have neglected to replace it. I have driven about 3k mi. without it. I pull a fifth wheel, have been on bumpy freeways, lots of bad dirt roads and just about every road condition there is except extreme four wheeling.
So far I haven't noticed a difference.....
I'm probably asking for trouble, but I'm not sure what?

John,
I think I've seen the stabilizer your talking about at a RV store, it has a spring around it and is a beefy looking unit, right?
They say it helps wandering and tracking problems on motorhomes and trucks. I like what they say but I've never seen one on a truck so who knows if it helps, seems like it was around 350-400$. . yikes.

I have the RS5405 on my 99... it fit like it
was made to go on the truck...

DUNE RACER, you just described the steering stabilizer I was talking about. One of the TDR members on this BB (the thread originator... of the thread several months ago) seemed really interested in purchasing one. I was just wondering if he or someone else had any pracical experience with one. Anyone?

I called Rancho's tech support line again and this time after telling them I heard the RS5404 would fit, they told me that was true if my factory stabilizer was a 52038276.
I will have to look when I get home today.

The part # is RS5405... RS5405. Not 5404.
I ordered a 5404 and it will not fit the 99.
The 5404 has a stud at one end and a eye at the other. You need an eye on both ends.

It sounds like you guys solved my problem! The Dodge stabilizer cost over $100.
How much are these Rancho units and where do you get them?
You guys are great!
Thanks,
Ron

I bought my RS9000's from National Tire and Wheel 1-800-847-3287. I haven't ordered my stabilizer yet, but I think they gave a price that was below 40. 00 when I asked the other day.

Was checking out shocks for my truck the other day and the folks at Checker and Advance Auto stated that Monroe make the shocks for Rancho.

Anybody know for sure?

Any of you guys running the Rancho stabilizer notice much of a difference over the stock one?

Hi,
I've got the RS 9000 shocks plus the steering stabilizer about a month ago.

The instllation of the shocks was a piece of
cake. The shocks work great! I keep them set to "4" and am really happy with them.

The part number for the steering stabilizer is RS 5404 it fits perfectly were the stocker was.
BUT, do yourself a favour, save your money.
Even with the double stbilizers,I can't tell any diference with the stock one.
'Nough said?

Rancho RS 9000 shocks, Ranch double steering stabilizer, SS Raptor front grile, custom modifyed ECM, Custom Brembo Cross drilled front discs, Brembo four piston calipers, Sorry I've surely forgotten something...

I finally got around to checking the stock stabilizer part number and called the Rancho tech support number (1-800-574-6257) to see which RS stabilizer I needed. My mopar part number is 52039280 and Rancho said the RS5404 is the correct replacement. They were glad to help, call them if needed.
