I wanted a set of bars to keep from twisting the rear-end out while sled pulling. Never had driven anything with bars on it. Rob's bars are sled-tested, so I ordered a set.

Easy install: Attach rear bracket (leave factory U-bolts just as they are). Attach bar. Attach front bracket. Hold up to frame and mark holes. Drill 2 holes. Slide backing plate in. Attach front bracket.

Repeat for other side. Then tighten bars in tension (pull axle FWD). Drive some. Retension by hand only. Then forget about 'em.

But you can't forget about them. I can ACCELERATE on wet pavement with the bars. Burnouts are much more difficult to do. The rear end feels attached to the truck now. If I build 10-15 psi before launching in 2WD, I get about 10' of spin---It used to just sit and spin.

I'm just amazed at how much better the truck is now.

I don't think you need a drag-racer or sled puller to really appreciate this mod.

I'll be getting a set for my other truck too. :D

Wade. . wait till you go mountain driving. . the difference is VERY noticable there also :)

now it drives off the turns and is way better for power driving off the turns. . meaning way better :) , before the rear end would do it's twist then drive the truck, now it will not wait to drive off the turn. . do some hard driving and you'll see what I mean. . BTW I have Steve's bars :) [before he discontinued making them]

ON EDIT. . forgot to say the best improvement and why I bought them was snow driving in steep and off camber mountains turns. . AND now no spring wind up in deep snow [ala the old spring bounce/wrap up]

Vendors can't post prices, but I can tell you that they're between 5 and 6 bills. I had a rush order w/o powdercoat--but then shipping was around $40. They weigh just under 100#.

No moving the tank. The backing plate slides in. The clearance between the tank and the front bolt was too close for me. I shimmed it very slightly with washers. Eventually I'll cut the bolt to fit.

Member "Rob Thomas" sells the bars. Look in the classifieds.
