Im sure that this has been asked before but I cannot find any thing. Does anyone know if someone makes a replacement boot for the turbo outlet, that will stay together. All I seem to do every time I tow is blow the boots off the pressure side of the turbo tubes.

I also have alot of friends with stock trucks that are having the same problem. Any help will be great. Thanks guys:confused:

Try this....

tighten them down. Seriously though, I run about 43 psi and have never blown one off. Why have I never had any problem? I just clamped them down so that the spring was completely compressed.

Spring???

Chipstein, you must have a later 01. Mine 01 doesn't have the constant tension clamps but the 02 does. Just at the trubo outlet. DC actually recognized a problem and tried to do something about it. Simply amazing!!

Michael, the constant tension clamps are supposed to fix the problem of them coming loose. Others have said to clean with a degreaser to make sure it holds better. Maybe that K & N is letting a little oil get through. (K & N lovers go ahead and chime in how you've never had a problem)

I just wrenched mine down tight and check them periodically.

I have cranked down the clamps before every trip, but no differance, It still blows the boots off. This time I blew a hole in the boot that goes to the intercooler inlet. Which most likely has something to do with me blowing them off so many times.

Anyway thanks for the info guys.

It's great to hear everyones ideas, Keep them coming ! And hopefuly we will hear about the aftermarket boots soon.

Wondering????

If the little elbow at the bottom of the turbo is defective? If I remember right there should be a lip there to help snug the hose on. If that were made too small it could be the problem not just the rubber hose.

I didn't think that much was possible......

At that kind of boost your HY was cooking. I never was able to get mine over 32 psi and it baked a nice yellow brown color.

Hold the horses... ... . You have a six speed HO. That's a HX-35 turbo. Still out of it's range but not nearly as bad. I still say check the lip of the elbow. There had to be some bad ones as there are only a few people that seem to have this problem.

:) I think I see your problem. I too run an HO with 275's and an EZ-Comp. But I do not run a K&N Filter. I run a BHAF. The K&N is an oiled filter. If your sucking a little oil msyt and you expand the rubber boots up a touch, the oil will work it's way in between the metal and the rubber. Expansion / contraction. Heat / Cold. Eventually the rubber gets kind of slickery and bingo presto the boot's blow off. :( My suggestion is go to a dry type filter and pull your boots and tubes off and flush em with alcohol. This will get rid of the oil and dry things out. ;)

:D Now as for 43psi. Yer dern tootin, that the little CUMMINS will be a hooten and is very capable of doing this with what you have. Mine will hit between 42 and 45 if I really romp on it hard and show no mercy to the throttle. Good luck and have fun. :D :D

:D I have 67,000 + on mine and never blown a boot and never had one even try to get loose. I check em once a month. :D

If the nuts on the boot clamps are backing off then double nut them. Mine where getting kind of loose and I doulble nuted. When you back the 2 nuts together it will take a lot to get it to lossen up.

First off, after they have blow off a couple times there shot, they get weak.

I found you have to make sure there is about a 1/4" of rubber left on the outside of the clamp, this rubber helps stop the thing from pulling through. My 98 did this for a while, I replaced them with boots off a 99 (they were longer by about 3/4"), and made sure the clamps were not sitting on the edge of the rubber. Plus some 3M weather strip cement (that yellow stuff) and they been stuck ever since.
