I'm looking to order my "600" here shortly. Before I go and confuse the salesman with the specifics that I need, I wanted to know if you could *delete* the carpet in an SLT, and get the rubber mat instead ? I want the SLT package, but have ALWAYS been a rubber floor mat fan. Can it be done ? If so, what option code would it be ?

THANKS !

I'm not sure, but I don't think you'll be able to delete from the SLT package.

I'd recommend the Husky Floor liners. You'll get the same protection/washibility (maybe better, because you can remove them to spray down). This would be better for re-sale value.

I don't think you can delete carpet, but I'll give a second vote for Huskys they pretty much cover the whole floor area.

I have them in my new truck and I've had them in my Dakota for 160k and they're still in good shape.

Don't know if you can start from the other end with a base truck (ST) and put the chrome grill on later. Something tells me that it would be more cost effective to get the SLT and special order the rubber floor through parts. When the truck arrives remove the carpet and sell it, replace with rubber. Wait till a warm spring day, not hard to do and it would be a nice way to bond with the truck.

I tried to get the rubber mat on my last 2nd gen truck and could not. The rubber mat cost more than the carpet did. I paid the extra money and installed it myself. It had a lot better insulation and fit than the carpet did.

I now of a fellow that ordered the rubber mat for the ST(?) from the parts counter. He pulled out the carpet himself and put in the rubber floor mat. When he sold the truck he put the brand new carpet back in. This was a long time ago on a 1st gen. Maybe you could still get the parts guy to get the mat for you. A little labor and you'll get what you want.

I tried deleting the carpet for the rubber mat when I order our EMS response truck and couln't do it. Even though we bought aftermarket rubber mats stuff still get on the carpet with the guys getting in and out of the thing a couple of dozen times in a shift.
