My truck broke down and was towed to Yakima Wa. to Mikes Dodge 125 miles from where I live on Sept 21st (Sat). I called them the next Monday and was told they would look at the truck Wednesday. Called Wednesday and was told they didn't get to it and will get it in Thursday. Called Thursday and they still never looked at it. Went to Yakima Friday to return the car rental and went by the dealer only to see the truck sitting in the same place where it was dropped of at. Talked to service manager (Joe) and he asked if I could come back at 4:00pm. I did and was told that it was a wiring harness problem. Was told they would look at it Monday. I waited a day and called them Tuesday only to find out they never checked it out. They would know more Wednesday. called Wednesday and they still didn't look at it. So I called Chrysler and told them my story. They called the dealer while I was on the phone. The next day I actually got a call from Joe that the problem was pointing to the ECM and fuel pump. They needed to do more checking. I called them Friday and found out all they did was reset the faults and told me to come and get the truck. The service Manager said they found a wire that was put on after truck was sold. The wire he was talking about was put on a 1 1/2 years ago for a light on the canopy. It ran directly to the battery with an inline fuse. The manager said that whoever put the wire on they must of had the key on and reflashed the computer and he wanted me to pay for there service time. I told him I wasn't going to pay a red cent and what he was saying was bull. I told him that most likely that the ECM was going bad but it had nothing to do with a canopy light. He said it could be the ECM going bad but he was sure it was that wire while being installed was the problem. I told the Joe that I don''t feel too warm and fuzzy about going over Chinook pass 125 miles to where I live with him just reseting the ECM. He said he's not here to make me feel warm and fuzzy at all. Finally Joe said to take my ****ing truck and get out of here and don't come back. I'm sure he was upset at me for calling chrysler. Well I did leave and I did make it home. But the next day the same problem truck losing power and barely running. It happens when there is hardly any pull on the engine. Then it will clear. It does better when I'm going up a hill then when I'm going down. Thats when it starts to cut out. Anyway what I need is some addresses to write to about this manager and phone numbers and any advice you can give me. Sorry for such a long winded story.

Most Dealers Suck! It's a sing-along.

Most Dealers Suck!

Most Dealers Suck!

Good luck finding a decent Service Manager. Call DC every chance you get. Those idiots need yelling at.

Wait until they see the power leads for my radio installations and the Blue Chip Cover ---------nah, why should they?:p

If my truck dies I'll ship it to Piers Harry and let him fix it--- or Joe D or Sheid or DD or anybody but DC!

Years back when living in Butte, Mt I needed some warranty work done so decided to skip the small local dealer and traveled to a larger facility (THINKING I'd see better service... HA!). I wrote Chrysler a letter griping about the crappy service and incompetent work / diagnositics I recieved and I went to my small local dealer (Dee Motors, Anaconda, Mt) to get it done right (not to mention the much more pleasant attitude of the service counter guys)!!! Not surprizing all Chrysler did was mail the letter I wrote to the service manager of the place I had complained about. I found this out when the service manager called me up ranting and raving how dare I write Chrysler about the incident and go to another dealer before trying to resolve matters with them first. I basically told him where to go ( feelings where mutual). Before he hung up on me I told him I'd never set foot in there again and I'd tell everyone to AVOID Grizzly Auto in Missoula, MT!!! A year later I moved to Missoula & more than happily drove 240miles round trip to Dave Smith Motors for any service/warranty work.

Moral of story is don't expect much from DC in regards to dealer complaints.

You guys in the above posts are completely missing the point when it comes to a bone stock truck.

Call the dealership back and ask to talk to the General Manager. This is the guy that oversees both the sales and service departments. Tell him about the whole thing, especially the profanity. Call Chrysler back and tell them the same thing too.

Call the BBB.

I work at a car dealer, and no one needs to be treated that way!

Take your truck to Enumclaw Dodge.

-Mike

I'm not missing a point. The fact is Dealers use Warranties to sell product. Then Dealers do everything short of point a gun at you to avoid making a warranty claim. And they charge double price on parts and service and have some of the most totally inept "mechanics" around.

That's why I don't give a rat's butt about warranty. It takes too long as well.

Yes Virginia, there are a few Dealerships that don't fit the above rule, but very few.

I bought a truck with the best powerplant available and I'm not about to fret about voiding the warranty on something that rarely breaks.

And Briar Hopper's shop would be an excellent alternative to a ***** Stealer. :D

I agree with MikeR, you can beat these guys into the ground if you want to spend the time. Write a few letters and make some phone calls and they will learn to treat people better. There are too many people looking for work. Dealer won't put up with a service manager that is running off business. Of course that is easy for me to say. I have had some sloppy work done by the local dealer on warranty repair and I called them on it. They say they are sorry, but I am not taking my truck back to that dealer, until I am forced too by even more incompentant work by one of the other dealers in town. None of them will ever touch my truck for anything but warranty work.

Too bad I aint from around there... I would go over to the dealership, ask for the jack@ss, stomp a mudhole in his rear end, and walk it dry... . I may be a small person, but if someone told me to leave the ******g dealership, I would be waiting to kick their you know what come 5:00!!!

I guess some of us are too nice

CSMITH

I read your post and thought I was reading my own experience and wondered how you found out about it. Mine was a recall though but same exact experience. I wonder if the service writers go to school to learn this attitude. Stay away from Sam Nays Waco Dodge in Waco texas unless you like being angry and abused .

The next Best Thing To A Dealer...

is go to any parts store and buy some wrenches. It doesn't matter what size. Then take drive to the zoo and give what you purchased to the caretaker and ask him to bring the chimps and the gorilla that put your oil filter on to the parking lot so they can fix your truck

Craig, make sure to relate your experience here http://dodgeram.info/survey_dealer/Dealers.htm . Isn't the name of the dealer something like Mike Jones? I went there in '95 with cash in hand to buy my two trucks, the guys were such turds I took my business 400 miles away. Not to slam any Yakima members, but it's pretty hard to find anyone who'll treat you decent there, the place is a pit. We used to call it the north gate to Hades, Tri-Cities being the south one. Think the Hanford Nuclear Reservation/Dump makes the people in the area weird.

I'll relate my friend's Missoula Grizzly Motors experience when it's over after the third time this week (maybe). He was charged for a vacuum pump leak that they "fixed" without even touching the pump, dang those guys are good. The leak is elsewhere and is still going.

Illflem,

Yep ol Grizzley has a way of fixing things without even touching the truck, and when they do touch the truck look out because more problems are sure to follow.

I heard the boys just north of you in Ronan are good. I never dealt with them, but folks always had pleasant things to say about the sales dept. They would often beat Dave Smith's price if you brought the quote in (so I heard).

PS: On my earlier post about Grizzley Auto, I believe they are under a new service manager since my experience. I found this out when I got that call from the service manager about 3 mos after I wrote Chrysler. The guy informed me he was the new service manager. From the way the short phone conversation went I think they went from one bad apple to another  Maybe things have changed in recent years, but it dosn't sound like it.

dealers suck

My service jerk off called me at home after reading a post on here about there lousy work and told me that i was -----ing with his lively hood and that his mech don't suck they are the best. He continued to cuss and swear at me on the phone, I finally hung up and made a few calls, followed up later and nothing was ever done to him, he's still there -----ing with people's lively hood.

Sounds like HE is screwing with HIS OWN LIVELYHOOD! What an idiot.

A few years back I got into it with the stealer in Moses Lake Wa.

Service monkey insists he doesn't have anything for me to drive even though I am 150+ miles from my home AND my destination with a truck that won't drive and less than 7k on the ODO.

I called my sales monkey at Dave Smith who has sold me and all of my friends (on my recommendation) our trucks. I let him know that I expected one of two things.

1. Either Dave Smith would send a truck and come get me and my ride.

2. Or the GM at Dave Smith should give the GM at Moses Lake a call and let him know how to treat a customer.

In 20 minutes I had a loaner and was out the door. Service manager was not happy and it was easy to tell.

When I returned a week later I got the same lousy attitude from the service manager. He refused to bring my truck around, it was parked at the very furthest corner of the lot. Not seeing how I could avoid a lengthy walk and not being in the best of moods I drove the loaner out. Moved all my gear into my truck, and then locked the keys in the loaner. I almost locked them in with it running but changed my mind.
