Need help here, was on the way to the beach pulling 5ver, all of the sudden it sounded like my air filter fell off, couldn't get more then 5lbs of boost, (normally getting 30-40 @ wot), and egts went through the roof under load. Limped it home as the wife contemplated how she could burn my truck to the ground as it ruined her vacation. Looking at the blow off valve, can't see anything wrong with the actuator. What should I look at first? Any help would be greatly appreciated, might keep my truck from getting torched... .

Easy Fix... .

You blew an inter cooler line ...

start it up and have some one give it fuel then let off and run your hands along the Boost lines going into and out of your inter cooler . youll find one slipped ..... loosen clamp reatach the flex line and put clamp back on

I'd say you probably blew a boost boot off somewhere?

Check at the intercooler on the passenger side and drivers side. Aslo between the turbo and intercooler at the end of the metal elbow. Might be as easy (well not *that* easy) as just slipping the boot back on and tightening the clamp. ;)

Thanks guys

Dead on guys, thanks for the response. Lower intercooler hose slipped off at the pipe going to the turbo. Put it back on and tightened all the way, came off 2 more times, time for new hoses, thanks for the link. I think thats the way I will go. Had to change weekend plans, but it all worked out.

Thanks

Steve

Clean the boots & clamps with carb cleaner or brake klean, Clean the metal & plastic tube, scuff the tubes with 80 grit sandpaper, reclean the tubes, let dry. After three blow offs its held for 20,000 miles. no need for high priced boots.

Spray the inside of the boots with hair spray. Don't laugh it really works. :)

That's true. Buy good quality handlebar grips & that's exactly what they say to do. Makes them slide on easy then adhere to the metal.
