I have to say that the success of the ecodiesel will hurt us in the long run. At the very least the threat to Cummins to end the contract and Fiat to go "in house" for a replacement will be used as leverage for better prices from Cummins. This could cause quality issues and possible hurt new product development. There are people here on this site that already believe that Fiat makes quality Diesel engines and are at least equal to Cummins. Fiat will do what makes them the most money, period! If they can sell the same number of trucks and save $5.00 on each by switching to another engine they will. The Ecodiesel has proved that most don't care where the engine comes from.
