running 24.5/22.5/19.5 on 10 hole wheels

what do you tourqe your lugs to the wheels are stamped 400 to 500 pound/feet and the lugs nuts are stamped the same is this what you are doing if so did you all buy a tourqe wrench or are you just hoping you get them tight

cj, one man's opinion here. If you're talking about the adaptor to the stock wheel studs, I'd use the stock torque recommendations. On second gen trucks, it's like 120 to 140 ft. lbs. I feel sure you'd twist the stock studs off if you tried to go to 400/500 ft. lbs



On the wheel to adaptor plate torque, good question, I'd call up one of the shops that sell kits to mount big wheels on our little trucks and see what they recommend.

Get the 19. 5" "F" rated tires and rims. .



I have the Ricksons Forged Aluminum Rims and Michelin 245 70 R 19. 5" ... Rated at 4080# @ 95 psi...



Now The only time I air up to that, is when I tow my heavy 5th... When solo, I air down to 60 front and 50 rear. This makes a firm but not bad ride. ... Yes there is a difference between the 16 and the 19. 5... Firm and slightly bumpy... . but not as bad as 22. 5 Truck tires...



I torque the rims to about 120 - 140 #... . about normal... .

thanks for the info

i will be running 285/70-19. 5 (h rated 16 plytires) 22. 5 look good but i dont like the tires one size only

i did find out that the 10 hole wheels only need to be tourqe to 150 lbs on the adaptors

the tires 285/70 will be 35 inches tall and will hold up great with my camper on them looking for less rpm going down the road the ride will be stiffer but should lose side to side roll going down the road

Eric, EGR told me that my braking performance would suffer with the larger diameter tires. Have you noticed the need for higher pedal pressure? (I have a 98, brakes aren't really great to begin with I've been told compaired to newer models)

Anytime you get larger tires, braking will suffer... . It don't matter what brakes or tires you have...



I have a Jacobs brake and even solo, I use it to slow down first and gears and then brakes... but yeah, A little mre pressure is needed... but you will stop better with disks than drums by a long shot... .

OK, thanks for the assist. I Think I have come up with a good solution though. I about ready to pick up a new 2006! Can't really aford it, but this year end sale pushed me over the edge and I'm getting a dually which I really need with my Lance camer.
