Since my latest upgrades I am anxious to try out my homemade #0 plate, but am wondering about a few things to do in conjunction.

Where is the best place to lock the plate down, stock position? Full forward?

Am I going to need to adjust the gov. lever any? I have never adjusted it before so it is still set at the factory position. But since the #0 plate doesn't have a curve at the bottom sticking out like on the #10 and #100, is it very possible I am going to need to adjust it to get it to touch the plate and not go under?

Would it be best to leave the AFC housing full forward no matter where the plate is set at?

Also are there any other pump tricks someone can advise me I should do to run this plate, if any?

Thanks guys,

Joe

Keep your AFC either centered or full back. When I got my present truck I opened up the AFC to slide the plate full fwd... . well it already was... . so I pu tthe AFC full fwd... big mistake... truck white smoked heavily at idle and MPG went down 2mpg or so. Talked to Piers @ TiM '04 and he said go full back with it and see if it changes things... . YEP! Got my mpg back! Oo.

A zero plate is A LOT of fuel Joe. Especially with those EDM's you have..... I would start out with the plate centered. Even with it centered I believe you will have more fuel than that HTB2 can burn. Once you have it centered turn your key to the ON position and pull the fuel shutoff solenoid all the way up then reach down the the throttle linkage and slowly roll it forward and check your Gov. lever. When I installed my ADP plate it hit the gov. lever centered, but fell under when full fwd. There are very good pictures and directions on Piers website on how to adjust your Gov. lever.

Need any more advice let me know. ;)

Thanks Mark,

Still curious as to why I would put the AFC full back or close to center? I can understand about the centering of the plate since the flat profile is deeper than any other profiled plate. Am I not going to need that much rack travel with this plate?

I know the gov. lever is kind of a hit or miss and pretty much different for every engine, but I will go ahead and try the plate centered and see where it hits, maybe move it forward according to where the lever hits.

I am only going to try this plate to see how the performance is, but will probably be putting the #10 back in after.

BTW, how streetable is the #0 plate? Am I going to have serious smoke throughout the entire RPM range? Just curious on people's comments from their experience running this plate??

Thanks, Joe

Mine was in some forward, so max rack travel was 19. 8mm. I just measured the "clean" spot on the face of the plate. The lever hit @ 0. 100" up from the bottom of the plate & moved up & down 0. 277".

It's a very streetable & towable plate. No you won't have serious smoke issues unless the star wheel is bunches forward. I dicked with the star wheel until there was a good tradeoff.

I'd try it centered to start, mess with the star wheel & see what up.

I've got my #0 full forward, afc full forward and star wheel cranked all the way up. I love it. But I am throwing in 370s, 191 DVs and a big turbo on tomorrow so we will see what it is like then. :D

Well, I guess I might just have to try it and see how it goes. If it is too smokey and hot definately going back to the #10. I might have to try and #100 one day though as I am working on grinding my own currently.

I will make and effort to get the #0 in this Saturday morning and report my findings for anyone else who is thinking 0 plates.

I hope you have head studs.

Think I'll need the studs? I'm putting on a HTT SP66.

Only one way to find out, :-laf but IMO, yes, studs or just pull the head, o-ring it and do it right. I am staying at my current set up until it blow the head gasket the it is time to set up for twins, but that is a long ways away. :D
