Just got an "02" 1 ton 4X4 and wife is having problems getting in and out... ... go figure. Hence the title of the thread.

I would like to find a set of running boards or something to that effect that look good on a 1 ton and won't bust the bank. Any ideas or comment and/or pictures ya'll can give would be greatly appreciated. Any links that you might know about where I can look at them/order/price would also be appreciated.

Thanks, Paul

Mine are the DEE ZE FX extruded. I love em. They are nice looking, solid, easy install, and protect my rocker panels very well. The set I have are actually designed for the 3/4 ton, as I did not want the flared out for the dually, but did want a step on the box for getting into my toolbox. Took just a bit of messing with the back of the box running board cap, but it was very easy. Install was total about an hour and a half. Been on this truck now for four years and the only problem was the black grip pads were originally held to the board with adhesive, I just drilled and bolted them on and nothing to worry about since. The black and chrome compliments the dodge design very well.

If you want to see more pics look under either of the cowboy cadillac galleries in readers rigs

Warn has removeable running boards in case you want the "Running board free" look. Otherwise, the ones shown above are nice. I run nerf bars to ward off shopping carts and yuppies.

I have the same issue with the wife and kids. I had bars on my last truck and thought I'd try boards on this one. I liked these (except they used the wrong truck for the photo)...

I've got a set like these on my truck.

I'm considering having my coated in Line-X to protect them from rocks but I like them. Mine also kick out in the rear for the duals. That gives me and extra step to reach in the bed.

Pics of them on my track are on my website.

Just click on the "www" button under my post.

I put the Kodiak Sidewiders on my 2500 4X4. With the door open, they extend down 8 inches and retract when the door closes.

Now my Mom and 6 yr old can get in the truck without help. I love them.

gitchesum...

really usable looking running "boards", but the part of the picture that caught my eye was the "boards" that the work bench was made out of and the covering on the wall.

I went to the Tough Country web site and had a look around, very nice stuff. I'm waiting for a reply back as to the cost and how their running boards mount. The front end replacements are quite interesting also. Thanks.

I'm going to venture and say the boards look like Mesquite. I'm not sure but it looks like it.

Interesting colors though.

I'd say Cedar...

But back to the running board question: I got a set of diamond plate (formed brite finished aluminum) from JC Whitney and got exactly what I paid for (they were the cheapest I could find). If you don't live in the rust belt they would probably hold up a lot better but the brite finish isn't too "brite" anymore. Constant cleaning would probably have helped but I don't quite have that heated garage that I can fit all my junk, my truck, my wife's truck...

If I had it to do over again (and had the money) I'd go with Putco stainless boards. Good mounts, great looks, stainless holds up better. Watch out for the "custom fit" units (like mine) that come with an erector set and generic instructions. Much more time consuming to mount and not as good quality.

Sorry agout the book, just want to share my experiences with you all...

Putco??? never heard of them. Do you have a web site where I can get info on them? I like the kind gitchesum has on his truck. Looking more in that style and durability. Mounted to the frame and not the cab mounts is important also. Last set I had moved to much due to that fact.
