OK, we solved our transmission issue in our 2010 3500 by buying a new 2018 Laramie, very nice with 20" wheels and Mopar running boards. But my wife has some mobility issues and she cannot get into the truck without a stepstool to get up on the running board. This new truck is about 2.5 inches higher than our 2010 3500 which she could enter ok without assistance or a stepstool.

Questions, are there other running boards that might be 2-3" lower, mods that could be made to the exisitng ones, or some other solution?

I thought about changing to 18" wheels but have been advised that would not help much.

Thanks!

Replace the factory running boards with AMP Power steps. On my 2018 they pretty much split the difference between the ground and the door opening. A bit pricey but once you have them you will never go back to running boards. Both my 06 and my 18 have them and the 08 5500 I sold also got them installed.

Check if the dealer installed the right board kit on the truck. There is a kit for the 1500 and the kit for the 2500. The dealer installed the 1500 kit on my 2013 the tops of boards were even with the bottom of the rocket panel. The 2500 boards are about 3” lower. Hope this helps

Looks like those would work for us! Thanks! And lighten our wallet by close to $2000!

Good thing for me to check! Thanks!

Seems very likely. The OEM boards on my ‘18 3500 are a bit lower than my OEM boards that were on my ‘05 3500.

Biggest mistake I made when buying my Ram truck going with the OE steps, and not getting the Amps. IMO the Amps are the best steps out there. My son has them on his Ram they have worked flawlessly for nearly four years, its his daily driver, and used for work, those steps go in ,and out many times a day ,every day.

I do have the Amp tailgate step, best thing out there getting into the bed.

I looked up the part no. (82213592AC) for my side steps on Mopar Parts and Accessories and that particular part no. has been "superceeded" with another (8221359AD), but other part numbers are also shown for my truck. But all of these part numbers seems to fit all Crew Cab models. i.e. 1500s, 2500, and 3500s.

The correct bracket PN for a 2500 4x4 (it's longer than a 1500) is 68199103AA. I had to order two for the 2500 to swap the wheel to wheel steps from the 14 1500 to the 18 2500. If anyone orders them they come complete with hardware (Rivnuts and fasteners) to install. I finally sold the 1500 so I can't go out and measure the bracket height difference, but they are not the same for sure.

sag2, OK, and thanks. The part no. I saw was on the bumper itself. I'll look for a number on the brackets. But first, golf this morning...

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^What he said
Had the OEM boards on our 2500, too much of a step up for my wife. Installed the Amp steps and a world of difference. She did complain about the price of the amp steps at first but would not trade them for anything now. She is 5'4",loves the amp steps.

I was stupid to not anticipate this issue before closing the deal on the new rig. The new truck was supposed to be delivered (from another dealer) without side steps. When it arrived with them, they looked beautiful and the dealer reduced the cost to me so he would not have to take them off. And I took the bait! I suppose if I could get my $$ back for the Mopar steps, I'd go with the Amp steps.

Basically what happened with me, but that plastic pad is starting to split on the OE steps, won't be long it will be a good excuse to rid of them, IMO they are junk. Its okay using them to get in ,but getting out I want to put my foot where there is no rubber pad. Bad placement for how I use them, would have been better with the full length pad.

Rock Auto has the step pads I forget how I found them but they have them.

We test drove a 2019 Laramie with the OE retractable, wife had no issues getting in. The 2019 Laramie we bought had none, so I'm in the market to get a quality inexpensive set. Many options with aftermarket, just haven't pulled the trigger yet. Just blew $600.00 on a B&W puck base and hitch, so I have a little time, this will be a good thread to watch.

Thanks
