I've recently installed lighted running boards which I would like to wire into the dome light circuit so that they come on with the remote entry. They terminate in a red and black wire - should be easy enough to wire up, but I can't find a switched pair under the dash.

Any suggestions or wire diagram help? Thanks.

What kind of Boards are they? Do they bolt to the frame or do you have to put screws in the Rocker Panels? Got any pictures? I am looking at some ,but refuse to bolt into Rocker Panel.

They're Westin running boards. Generic to the OEM versions you see fairly regularly. They do bolt into the rocker panels. Dodge has four raised embossments on the inside of the panel for this purpose. I got them at carparts.com, although I think you can get them at any PepBoys. Lighted and non-lighted versions are available.

Now if I can just hook them up. Dodge wanted $190 to do it. Incredible!

Wiring Running Board lites

I have J&J stainless running boards. They have running lights on them. They are Yellow except one on each side at the door is clear.

I wired the yellow(amber) lights to the Trailer clearance lights.

BK/or wire alongside the frame(goes to 7pole trailer plug, comes from relay in PDC. )This was suggested to me by another member.

If you get a short in your handiwork, you only lose the trailer lights it it's hooked up. If it's not only the running board lights.

On the clear ones for the entrance. . I spliced into the yellow wire

behind the headlight switch. Used a relay. (acutally painless module from Geno's).

Now my amber lights on when park or headlights. The clear entrance lights on when I use the remote to unlock the PUor when I open either door. . like the dome lite.

Mine is a 2000 with all the factory options.

This may not be for you. Just thought I would pass it along.
