Amp makes a great step. Have had them on three trucks without problems. Personally I don't like the plug and play idea. I don't like extra things plugged into the OBD port for my knee to run into. I also don't trust that it won't interact with something like a CTS2 or Bluetooth monitor even though I haven't tried it. The wired in model is a bit harder to install. I did it on my 08 and the wires that need tapping were behind the instrument cluster. Not sure where they are on the 18 as I let the dealer do it since they gave me a pretty good priced installed on them. Wasn't much more than what Genos wants for the plug and play ones.

Missed that plug and play part. Wont work with mine as out work GPS tracker is already plugged in there. Im not worried about installing the wiring part.

They claim the port is a pass through connector so would probably work other than the additional width. What I've done on my other trucks where I needed to connect two things were one was a pass through was get a 90 degree extension cable and stick all the connectors up under the dash.

Got it. Thanks.

My wife insisted on buying new truck with factory power steps... I now like them a lot. Not sure if they would freeze in the up position up north I the snow. Wouldn't hurt them, found out they have a contact sensor to prevent or reduce damage deploying on a curb. I notice it a lot whenever I drive her 1500 a then get in my 5500 with factory fixed steps. Maybe someone from where there is real winter can chime in. Cheers, Ron

They have 2 versions of the steps one has an extra 3" drop and dual motors and that auto retract or anti crush option, also changes to 5yr 60k mi warranty. Have to make a decison this week so it can go on my 2018 expn.

If can afford them and also like the idea of a retracting step, the AMP steps are the way to go...

They are an extremely well designed product made to exacting standards backed by top quality customer service and th4cnical support. They are also straightforward to install. If you have ANY questions about applications, give them a call and they will readily and easily answer your questions. It IS a simple as that!!!

Hmmm, their webpage Technical Tab only lists California's Cancer Warning! No mention of deployed position dimensions from truck "floor sill", nor road to step dimension. Also no "Contact us" info. Unimpressed already. Are you their secret customer contact?

NOT their secret contact, nor their secret agent, secret Santa nor do I have ANY type of secret relationship to AMP. I don't even own stock in their company.

I DEFINITELY am a satisfied customer who is suitably impressed with the design and build of their product, as well thier technical and customer support over the PHONE. I suggest that you simply give them a call, politely ask them your questions and THEN let us know whether or not you are impressed with their CS.

Even though its no secret, I'll google their number for you and you alone ...LOL!!!

Yeah I held off on steps, but folks really have problems getting up into this truck for sure.

I typically ride solo, going to wait for hay season and see how the clearance is going thru some of the fields and see what the worse case is. Still on the fence but have a laundry list of other stuff in front.

Also any rust issues turned me away from steps. Lots of folks reported issues.

Just turned 4700 miles, really regret not getting the krown treatment but the closest place is a few hours one way. NJ is now considered the Brine Me State, they claim its 15cents a mile and seem to love that stuff this year.

Had the AMP steps installed by the dealer when I bought the truck. Now, nearly 13 years later they still work fine. I've added strips of LEDs above the steps that are activated with deployment. The newer ones have optional lamps. I will admit that one step sometimes, but rarely fails to deploy when the door opens. Because it is a very seldom and random situation I haven't been able to isolate the problem. The tech at AMP Research tried to walk me through troubleshooting via email but we never totally resolved it.
I live where ice and snow don't affect me but spent a week in sub-freezing climate and found ice makes the step very slippery. I think they are all aluminum so rust isn't an issue.

I had some problem with one of mine on my 06 not wanting to open when cold and wet. Pulled the connector at the motor and put some dielectric grease in the sockets and haven't had a problem since. Other than that my 06 is still doing fine.

I have put them in my last three trucks and love them! The ones in my '16 Longhorn 2500 are simple plug and play, no splicing wires like the ones in my 06 2500 and 09 1500. A lot of people get frustrated installing them if they hit the pinch weld. Then after a lot of cussing get out the grinder or hammer.

The simple cure is to install them without the motors, see where they touch, then take a 2x4 about three feet long as leverage. Place it between the pinch weld and the board and put a little pressure on the end of the 2x4 with one foot. Check to see if the board and see if it clears. If not do that until it does and install the motors. Wifey loves them as they are a wider platform and further away from the rocker than the stock running boards. Much easier to get in and out of.

I put Lund composites on my '15 and now '18! Other than maybe some corrosion on the mounting brackets, the steps continue to look like new!

Installed the plug and play Amp power steps today. About a 5 hr job not counting unpacking and taking inventory. If I were to do it again on a 4th get truck I could cut 2 hours off the install. All in all it was a pretty easy install with the right tools. I'm 72 yrs old, didn't find any difficulty with the install. $1400.00 from Amazon, time will tell if they are worth it.

I looked at AMP a lot, but ended up not going that route. It came down to the wheel to wheel option.

So, on Tuesday I installed a set of OEM wheel to wheel steps.

What I’ve noticed about these steps over the OEM steps on my 05 is that their placement is much better for entry/exit. They do sit a little lower, and a little wider but that’s what makes them more functional.

I can now step on the step and climb into the bed.

Those are a bit different then my OEM, I like the longer pads for the front doors on yours, my pads are similar to the rear pads . Okay getting in, but not getting out. If I had to do it over I would have gone with the AMP steps, especially since getting in ,and out of my sons truck with them. They are hard to beat, have never had side steps I like better then the AMP's that he has. Next time for sure .

Amp also makes a Bedstep and Bedstep2. The standard Bedstep is for the rear under the left side of the bumper and the "2" is where your rear step would be. I installed both in my truck and plan on getting a 2nd Bedstep2 for the passenger side of my truck as well. Here is the "2" on the drivers side of my truck in the thumbnail pics I posted on an Amazon review I did on them. Unfortunately they are fairly spendy at near $300...
