The factory boards should handle well over 250 lbs. without a problem, not just 120 lb. girls! Just saying. These are "Heavy duty" trucks for crying out loud!

I refuse to order any recall parts now for the service department until I review the recall myself because it seems nobody reads the damn things.......

Not limited to our dealerships by any means from what I hear.....

Also, I weigh about 260 and I can dance on the dealer installed Mopar step tubes that are on the '06. They don't even wiggle.

Something's not right if they are giving trouble on the 4th Gens.

Mike, i believe the 3rd gens were mounted to the body bolts. the 4th gens are mounted to the inner sheet metal of the cab by 5/16" bolts. They seem sturdy, but are totally dependent on proper install and zero abuse.

No.the mopar boards have never attatched to any part of the frame.The aftermarket did use the body bolts and rocker panels.....bad idea.The body and frame must remain isolated by the bodymount bushings

The 3rd gen mopar brackets attach to the rockers and may have braces at a 45 up to the body where the body mounts are.As a side not I do have a set with all the mounting hardware

I think they go into slots made in the inner rocker. They don't hook to the cab mounts as I recall. Will look in the morning to be sure.

That is correct Mike.There are nut plates that fit into those slots that will sandwich the rocker panel with an 8mm bolt through the bracket.The latter trucks have holes in the rockers that we install the nutserts into.The advantage in the 4th gens system is that there is no worries of loosing the nut plates in the rocker. I am sure the 4th gen system is easier on the production line

Welded the patches on, made them 5" X 6" and wrapped them around the bottom of the rocker panel. They feel stiffer than when I bought the truck!

I'm about 240 and have had the problem continuously since I got the 2010. My new 2014 is nice and tight so far. I'm going to take a look and see if they mount the same and will keep an eye on them. I suspect improper installation may have been the root cause of my trucks failure.
