I just got my 2004 Dodge Ram TD Quad Cab 3500, long bed, single rear wheel truck. It runs great.

I need to add running boards, all the way to the rear wheels. I would like stainless steel if possible. Any good suggestions?

Thanks, Willie

I gave up and decided to make my own. I'm using mild steel and plan to have them powder coated. I'll post pictures when I'm done.

PUTCO They are expensive but you get what you pay for. I have the putco pipeline boards and love the way they look. They have a web site with a lot of pictures, check em out. On the other hand I saw a set of aluminum diamond treads on a third gen the other day that looked like normal running boards but didn't have the verticle part going up to the rocker panel, almost like nerf bars but they weren't, they were flat and square-ish. They were full length and looked real sharp, only problem is I don't know who made them. If I had a third gen and was looking for running boards I would definantely look for those to check them out.

hey willie,

i am looking into this subject right now too. as soon as my new truck comes in, i will be putting some on. so far i am leaning towards the full putco stainless boards also. i like the mudflap built into the front of the board. gonna need that here because of snow and slush. have also been looking at deflectashield aluminum that has integrated mud flap.

i'll be watching the posts here to see what recommendations show up.

good luck

Check out the members rigs. Look for Casey Balvart's pics. The JJ stainless boards are awesome. Then again you get what you pay for.

I put Stull Stainless Steel Running Boards on my 99 right after I bought it. They still look like new and are rock solid, even with my 250+ pounds getting in and out. Putco are very nice also, but they are expensive.
