On my 02 47RE Transmission I changed the fluid and adjusted the bands this past weekend (not my first time doing this) everything works fine and shifts great the only compliant i have it is running much hotter then normal when sitting in stop and go traffic 190 to 210 on a 85 degree day and not pulling anything. And on the hwy. it runs around 160 which is good I belive. And I use valvoline full synthetic ATF+4 fluid a friend told me I may have the bands to tight?? but it shifts fine I told him any ideas why it would run hot.

You do know

You have to check fluid level in neutral, not park there is a difference. I would also recheck the band adjustment. There needs to be a 1/4" gap between the strut arm and the piston apply rod.

After a fluid change I had problems with mine..... spoke to Dave at Goering... . he told me to be sure and check fluid level while in drive and to be sure and check both sides of stick... go with lowest reading.

Dip stick is not protected for the full length and you can get splash that will give you a false reading.

There was a difference in mine comparing the neutral and drive readings... full in neutral... . low in drive.

Generally speaking, low transmission oil level will cause an operation complaint. High oil level will cause excessive temperature.
