I'm going to install some LED lights on my running boards. The LED lights I'm looking at are 4 inch, 12 led. Are these too bright for running lights? If not, how far apart should I put them based on their brightness?

Thanks,

Bill

heres my setup, I have the westin bars and have 5 lights on the side. seems to work well. I have the same lights you want to get. really makes a "ground effect" on the side of the truck

Don't think it is a problem. Notice the 18 wheelers w/ tons of lights? Lit up like a Christmas tree. :D

Eric--what is the spacing on those? that is EXACTLY the look i want only to run further down the side of the truck. also where di you get the LEDs and what are they???

thanks, Tim

Don't have the spacing, . . If you use 6 lights, just lay them on the ground and stand back to see how they spread out. in some places the lower metal edge is 3 layers thick so it takes a bit of drilling.

I got the Lights at a pilot truckstop in wyoming. ... . I think any pilot will have them. They have 12 LED "Bulbs" in them and are very bright!

I just put 4 Truck Lite amber LEDs on each side of mine. Spaced at 21" centers and attached with silicone sealer to the seam at the bottom of the rocker panels. I put six red Chinese LEDs across the back, between the tailgate and bumper. These are on 9. 5" centers and are screwed to the metal.

K-mart has a deal on these Chinese waterproof LEDs in their boat department. I got them on clearance for $3. 50 each!! I hate using Chinese junk on my truck, but they are working so far.

Tim, I always thought HEYBOSS' continuous-strip lights on his running boards looked pretty trick  As I recall he said he got 'em from JC Whitney and had to splice them to get enough length. There was someone else there at Massdiesel's shop with the same thing when we had the BOMB party there a couple years ago.

Vaughn

yes Vaughn... its BIG DADDY... ... but i could never find this strips on Whitney's site... ...

i like the look of the separate LEDs better tho
