Running up the EGTs faster than I'd like

My only mods are the Diesel Dynamics tuning box and a drilled airbox with an Airaid filter. It doesn't matter if I'm at setting 2 or 4. I can run the EGTs to 1200 and have to back off when climbing hills or accelerating fast under load. BTW this is with my 4000lb camper in the bed. You can run the EGTs up with the truck empty, but of course you REALLY have to be pushing.



Will just an exhaust upgrade lower the EGTs so I can use more of the available power or do I need a larger turbo housing. If I do get a larger turbo housing are there any other things that "must' be installed at the same time?

Goto the 5" system. You will see good results. Maybe 150-200 Degree drop... ... ... .

Call Diesel Dynamics . . . they have done research with turbos, etc. to control egt on the 2003.

I have an Edge Box on level 4. with a Scotty Air III and the DPP 4" Exhuast.



Pulling a 40' trailer with 2 cars on it, around 16,000# or so.



From a dead stop going up through the gears to 3000 rpm shifts if finially will get up to 1250 deg when I get into 5th gear and about 2700 rpms. That is around 60mph I believe. But drop it into 6th and 2700 and the temp comes right back down. Running down the road 70mph and full throttle up hills it will top out at around 1170 degrees going up the hills. Never hit anything steep enough to need to drop back to 5th to see what that did for temps.
