Mine ticks at idle, then it rattles at a certain throttle spot regardless of speed. I had another 05 pull up behind me at the pump yesterday and it was quiet as could be. Mine was pretty quiet until they replaced my CP3. Tick didn't start until after that.

I talked with Don M (F1 Diesel) about my injectors and the occasional ticking that mine makes on warmup.

He has found that most of the injector ticking is caused by a lack of lubricity in the fuel. Kind of strange, but I guess it can make sense. My truck still does it, even though it has seen a bottle of Stanadyne for EVERY tank since new. 41k miles and counting.

One thing I will say, it seems to be less pronounced after a long day of running hard.

Mine also has the same symtoms, It goes away after a long hard run, making me think it is the injectors getting carboned up. I don't run any kind of injector cleaner. I just took a 1200 mile round trip, about a week ago, and no noise since!

03 74k on the clock... mine ticks after you start the truck after sitting all night. when you 1st crank it i will not do it but after about 30 seconds of idling it starts to tick... but after the 1st time around the block it quits. I am going to try the sea foam thing. . although i am not too worried about it.
