Hey guys, been on the sidelines for awhile finally got around to joining, so here's my first post.
I have never seen this problem mentioned so here it is.
Upon doing my usual checkover of the body (new dings scratches etc) I unfortunately discovered some cancer starting around the tail lights, upon further investigation it seems the tail light encasement is press fitted so tightly aganist the body that upon bed flex and expansion and contraction the plastic encasement has worn all the paint from the body, hence rust forming. You would not notice this happening unless you had to change out a tail/brake light. So guys take a look at your truck, suggested fix would be to put a rubber adhesive strip as a buffer between body and tail light.
