I don't know what years had the problems?
My truck doors bottom seam is showing some rust. It is much worse on drivers side. My problem is the silver paint band on my truck was sprayed with a gray bedliner. So I have to save what I got.
My fix:
I have no rust inside the doors, but I poured in some rust converter just to be safe. Then I removed all loose metal from bottom of door. Next I applied the rust converter, an eastwood product, twice until the rust turned to black/dark gray. I coated the top of the seam & any missing parts with a 3M brushable seam sealer. The same stuff the factory used on spot weld seams. Put a heavy coat of paint over the seam sealer to seal out moisture & air (needed for rust). I mixed the paint to match the seedliner gray.
I hope the doors will last me a few more years. You should check you doors often, before the rust gets out of hand. I bought my thruck last year and I didn't get a chance to fix the doors before winter set in. I just now got the time... . Another ting off the to do list
