2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission rust removal tech?

I'm looking for a brush other than a wire cup brush to attach to my 4" angle grinder to remove some rust and scale from the dodge. The wire brushes work just OK, and tend to shoot out little spears of wire everywhere.



Has anyone tried the disks that look like a burnt rice crispy treat, or black/brown sponge?



There's also a 3M bristle disk available for $22.

Rust and scale?!?!?! on an 01??

Surely you are talking about an older Dodge?? I have also use the "burnt rice crispy" ( I like that description) kind of wheel they do work very well but I hope not to have to use them on my truck for at lest 3 or 4 more years with any luck.

Yes, it's for the '01. Granted, it's not much scale, mostly surface rust here and there. It's a constant battle with rust here in NC. 80% humidity isn't uncommon here in the summer. In the winter, the northeast winds blow salt-spray and foam off the ocean that sticks to the truck like corrosive cake icing. It sucks. I'm going to start treating the underside of my truck once a year with a mixture of linseed oil and used Rotella sprayed with a garden sprayer. That is about the only thing that works around here.
