I wash my truck regularly but sometimes notice mud caked under the weather stripping on the inside of the doors down at the bottom where they meet the body of the truck. Power washers and car washes don't reach this area very well and it occurs to me that mud might encourage rust if it's left in place. Just thought I'd pass this along.

For me, those areas are part of 'inside' cleaning as opposed to washing the exterior. They seem to attract all kinds of debris. The better I clean them the longer the cleaning interval.

Yup, just didn't want people to think a weekly (or even daily) trip to the car wash gets all the gunk off. There's always some hiding under the weather stripping, particularly after a rain or if the truck is driven on a muddy road.

In the warmer season with my garden hose on lower pressure I spray out those areas to get the worse off then I wipe with a dry rag. After everything dries out I wipe the gaskets with a mixture of armoral-silcon and lubriplate on a armoral wipe. I use a new wipe for each door this system keeps my doors and seals looking brand new.
