Anyone ever had any trouble with getting rust warranty work done? I was giving my truck the annual once a year cleanup, and I'm getting quite a bit if rust on the bottoms of the doors. It's not through rust, but it will be in a year or so -

I'm wondering how agonizing it is to get them to honor their 5 yr rust warranty... ... .

Read your warranty info closely- I believe the rust needs to be bad enough to go through the metal before they will take care of it.

I remember, when the ads came out for the '94s there was something in the Brochure about People not wanting trucks that rust. My '00 has rust starting on the seam under both front doors :( DC has no interest in fixing it. The only body shop that has a paint booth tall enough wants $600. 00, & no guaranties. So, I will have to fix it myself. .

Hey, I doubt DC will care. . But you might be able to call them up and threaten a lawsuit... but it all takes lots of time... .

Your best bet:

Take doors apart, have them fully dipped, repaired, and ecoated... you will never had rust again after the ecoat since it gets down the the cracks... to do this and paint prob cost you about 1500 bucks my best guess... but you gotta pay for the correct way!!!

Restoration Specialties in Milwaukee, WI, (414-529-1515) does the ecoat at dipping... go to this site for a charger that was done... www.69hemi.com/restoration.html

back in the 80's there was a company called rusty jones. You paid big bucks to get your car "rustproofed". Well my dad did that, and of course it started to rust. Well they wouldn't fix it since it wasn't rusted through, so he helped it out by drilling a couple of strategically placed 1/16" holes in the middle of the existing rust bubbles. Then waited eight months or so and took it back in.

Warranty honored.....

sounds like I need to get creative with a 1/16" drill bit.....

What's funny is that you will probably not see rust or corrosion anywhere else on the truck that is nearly as severe as that door edge area. I'm fighting DC over mine right now. Both sides, almost exactly same length of damage on both doors. I wonder how many people over the years have had the same problem and DC ignored them?
