I haven't had much luck at all with paints, powdercoating (on the hitch & snowplow mounts), or por-15, either abranz. Strangely, the powdercoating seems to be affected the worst by the salt and liquid stuff and takes a thick layer of steel off with it when it peels.

So far, you fluid film guys have the best things to say about it and nothing negative at all yet. Great info, guys.

[I apologize for getting sidetracked with the groundhog story on your post EdK, but SBall's special Fluid Film formula and mention of the destructive critters gnawing on his truck's underside exposed my not-yet-totally-resolved issues with them, I guess. It was somehow good to learn I haven't been the only one tormented by those oversized rotten rodents. This has been a very good Rust Prevention thread and I'm glad you started it!]

Your mentioning rodents reminded me of a funny story. I took the family camping in our new 06 Mega cab in western Montana. We woke up to our dog going nuts and barking. There was a awful smell that got stronger the closer I got to the truck. A skunk apparently liked the new pickup and managed to spray the dog, and the left side of the truck from the front fender to the bed. The spray was yellowish and covered the panels as high as four feet. I opened the hood and found rodents also liked the firewall insulation. Only had the truck about a month, so much for the "new car smell". It took alot of cleaning and elbow greese to get the skunk spray off the paint. Oh well, it ended up better than the previous new truck which I ripped off the garage door with on its maiden voyage! Anyway, your story just reminded of that incident.

This summer, I plan on removing the door panels and applying it inside the doors similar to what many european vehicles have. Anthony in ID

Anthony, while you're doing inside the doors next summer make sure you also spray inside the rocker panels through the four access holes on each side (rubber plugs).

I too am very pleased with the results using Fluid Film. In addition to undercoating of all my vehicles and equipment, I also use it in all of my locksets to prevent corrosion (especially in the T-handle locks on my fiberglass truck caps), and as a coating on my dashboards to prevent cracking. It's great stuff!
