how many of you had this happen ? these don't come cheap either . you would think for how many i seen like this and how thin the metal is that you should be able to get a repo for cheap the shell cost about twice as much as the front bumper whats up with that ?Oo.

Do you live in salt country? I had to paint the backside of the bumpers on my '91 - guess I need to check the newer truck, even though salt isn't an issue here in sunny California...

Rusty bumpers

Mine gets rust spots on it if I don't stay after it and wipe them off. An application of chrome polish helps, and I generally wash it ASAP if it has salt on it.

I live in salt country, this past winter has been awful for it will all the ice and snow we have had. I usually wash the truck first chance i get even if its cold out and i hit the usual spots where dirt, salt, and grime have a tendancy to build up and so far no rust on the bumpers at 81000 miles just the rust thats eating my right rear quad door at the bottom seam, but got my por15 and just waiting for warmer weather...

I don't have the warranty info handy, but I thought Dodge had an outerbody rust through warranty that was longer then the 3/36? I wonder if bumpers would be covered?

Pretty hard to effectively combat salt - after a few years the backside of the bumpers on my '91 showed slight rusting, I cleaned them up and applied silver metalic Rustoleum - no more problem, but no salt in this area either...

If they use liquid calcium chloride or magnesium chloride where you live, it is much worse than using rock salt. The liquid stuff is much more corrosive. It can rust bare metal overnight, or as little as a few hours, depending on conditions.
