What are the thoughts here on keeping the rust away from our 3 gen trucks?

Rustproofing, Oil Spraying inside panels and underbody or leave it alone?

How do you oil spray your truck and what is your recipe for a good product to use? How often do you power wash in the winter and how often do you need to reapply oil after so many washings?

Why not just have it done with the Mopar Rust Proofing. It is wax based, and is sprayed inside the panels with a special applicator. Then the warranty is on DC.

How long a warranty do you get using the mopar rustproofing if they do it and what is the normal charge. I am still trying to figure out how to get rid of and keep rid of the rust on our new truck's undercarriage, and not throw the drive shaft into a tizzy and for manageable money.

I am quite disappointed with the amount of unpainted and rust coverd parts brand new from the factory, but having said that, I still am in search of a rustproofing solution as asked in this thread.

Thanks for your information,

Not sure what the cost is, as they don't do much rustproofing here in California. I believe the warranty used to be quite long. 10 years or possibly even lifetime. The product is called MasterShield.

What I did

I pulled some of the rubber plugs and sprayed the rocker panels and door seams with WD-40. Then I coated the door hinges and mechanism with lots of white lithium grease. I smeared some petroleum jelly along the inside bottom-edge of the doors. I painted the entire underside with flat-black rustoleum. I coated the floor pans with Duplicolor truck bed coating. I used a paintbrush to paint the ends of the axles, which were unpainted at the factory. I touch up with flat-black rustoleum when necessary.

I'm getting ready to install a front skid plate to keep salt/snow out of my engine compartment, and I'll spray a bit more WD-40 into the rockers and doors before winter settles in.

Electronic Rust Proofing

I bought an electronic anti-corrosion device that warranties the paint and interior for 10 years and no rust as long as I own the truck. Used this on 2 other trucks I had and seems to work good.

I'm unconvinced about the electonic systems. I mean, Iron spontaneously reacts with oxygen to form Iron Oxide. How will positively (or negatively) charging the Iron change that? And even if it will, wouldn't it take an awful lot of current to affect an entire vehicle?

I've used Krown rustproofing services up here since my first

cummins in 92. The 03 is my third and none of them had a body panel rust issue. Also helps with the resale value.
