Clutch Help, Which one???

No 12 V + at factory 7 way

My Good Sam forums don't seem to be working at this time. So I'll try it here. I'm a newbie with the RV. We havn't had it out since we bought it 3 weeks ago. They gave it to us full of water. I don't plan on using it for a couple of weeks. And when we do use it, we will have campground water. It seems to have be winterized when we got it. Should I empty the tank? Should I run the bleach cycle thru it? Should I keep it empty?

Thanks!

My suggestion would be to flush the system with clean water including the water heater and fresh water tanks.

Once it is flushed, sanitize it. There should be directions in your owners manual. After sanitizing, flush lines, heater and tank again.

I do this before I take mine out every year. For the last flush, I use my potable water hose (white) to prevent hose taste in the system. If I am not going to be using the trailer within a day or so of this process, I drain the water and heater tanks and blow out the lines with compressed air (no more than 20 psi). This way there is no water just sitting in the system.

Strongly recommend using a pressure regulator and filter when at any camp ground.

Just my 2 cents on the subject. Have a safe and enjoyable trip

Water weighs about 8# per gallon, 40 gallons is an extra 240#s.

I do keep, about, between a quarter and half a tank in the fresh watter tank for just-in-case we need it. We use the CG water with filter for our use.

When boondocking, or there are no facilities, we fill the tank and add a little bleach. Our house water at home stinks so yes I add bleach.

I agree with all of the above... and don't cheap out on the water pressure regulator or filter. The cheap ones cut down on the water flow alot.

Drain the water and flush the system. You don't know how long it's been sitting in the tank growing bacteria. Besides, as Jeff929 mentioned, why carry all that extra weight if you'll have hookups when you get there? If you plan on stopping for the night before you get to a campground, then leave a little in the tank after flushing. If it has been winterized as you say, then there might still be RV antifreeze in the fresh water lines that will have to be flushed anyway. Good luck.

As discussed above, definitely drain, flush, and bleach. As stated above, you dont have a clue how long that water has been in there, or how it's been maintenanced in the past.

As an added precaution, I always carry bottled water, or the 2 liter water jugs you can get at Safeway for any water that Im actually going to drink, or use for cooking. My TT only has a 30 gallon tank, so I only use it to flush the toilet, and to wash dishes. If I also used it for drinking etc, I think I might run low before the end of a long weekend.
