What is the going rate for a one-time haul?

I just got my new Highways (Good Sam Club) magazine. They say RV sales were up over 15% in 2004  . And I thought people here have been saying that RV sales were dropping like bird shot during dove season because of high fuel prices???

I think the baby boomers getting older will keep RV sales out of sight, regardless of fuel prices. What do you all think?

I think your right, although Gas prices have never really significantly effected RV sales or dictated truck and suv sales. But baby boomers are definitely entering into the retirement age so I see a good investment opportunity in RV stock!!!!!.

We found an RV park on the Amite River in Louisiana that rented by the month so we can still use our RV but don't have to tow it as much. Somebody with money can make make a real profit by selling land in "RV communities. " We like it so much, we're looking to buy land and develop our own permanent RV site. Then when we want to travel, off we go!!

I just picked up my new Forest River Wildcat 29BHBP last week. The Cummins towed like a real pro. I cann't wait for our first RV trip.

For most who get into the hobby, RVing is funded by discretionary income, like motorcycles and boats and airplanes. It's generally not financially justifiable in and of itself (for the non-full-timers, anyway) - for what I paid for our truck and RV, I could drive a Neon and stay in a Motel 6 for a LOT of nights!

We RV because we enjoy it. If I can afford the truck and the RV, I can afford the fuel to use it.

In hind sight I would have guessed that. I am from Indiana, and as I understand a great majority of RV's are made in the northern part of the state. I frequently stop at a truck stop just south of Indianapolis (at the Whiteland exit) and it is not uncommon to see 6 or 7 trucks with new RV's hooked up going out to deliver them. And if you take a drive south of Indy on 65 you are sure to see several on the road headed south. It is absolutely amazing how many transporters are on the road!!!

I contract to Horizon Transport in Wakarusa, In. They are expecting to deliver 50,000 + trailers & motorhomes this year, up from just over 40,000 last year.

We helped with that 15%, my fiance and I bought our first RV last year, a Holiday Rambler Next Level toy hauler. I think the toy haulers getting more popular has helped increase sales and also attracted a younger customer base who wouldn't normally buy an RV.
