RV Shocks

I have rasied my 26' Tandem trailer, moving the springs to sit on top of the axle instead of the bottom. My problem now is that the back axle shocks rub on the tire, it looks like if i could turn the shocks upside down, they will fit without rubbing. My question is Will the shocks work when they are mounted upside down?

I don't think they work that way because of the hydraulics and valves, but never tried it. Have you tried holding them that way and stroking them? Craig

Back in the days when dirt bikes had 2 rear shocks, a trick was to mount them upside down, this caused less "unsprung weight" which allowed for faster suspension travel.

I have moved the springs to top of axle with a Dexter axle kit and then had to move the shock mounts . I cut off the top mount from the frame and moved the mount four inches up and two inches forward . I used old spring plates to seat the bottom of the shocks by placing on top of new plates and turned plates around to have holes on proper side . I had to weld extra inch to bump stop for axle travel limit used one inch angle 1x3x1 . works fine also added one inch to side of entry step (top step 0) and made two five inch spacers used two 1x1x6 angle and four 1x1x1/4x 6 flat stock to make spacer for each side of step well to hang step on works fine four bolts hold steps on . and also use a portable step to use with rig as its a long jump to first step for the wife .
