RV to the Rockies - How's the Drought?

New Exhaust and TST PMCR on tow vehicle

We'll be traveling to CO in August and haven't been able to find much by way of RV camping in the Boulder area. Any suggestions from those of you in that area? We need to be fairly close to Boulder. Thanks

Hmmm... good question as it's now more of a case of "there used to be... "!

Try Longmont: Barbour Ponds State Park or the Boulder County Fairgrounds used to have some RV sites (been a couple of years since I was there).

Or Loveland: Johnson's Corner RV Retreat (our club has camped there), Boyd Lake State Park, Loveland RV Village, plus others.

Or Estes Park, if you don't mind staying a bit further away.

How close is fairly close? People out here don't think anything of driving 30 to 40 minutes or an hour to get somewhere. There are a lot of nice campgrounds around. Be more specific.

We'd like to be within 30 minutes of Boulder and Denver if possible. We're looking at Dakota Ridge and Chief Hosa campgrounds right now.

Dakota Ridge is beautiful, but last we were there about 3 years ago, it was a bit expensive. If you check on their rates and they are within reason, go there. It was a very nice park. They are a little picky if you have an older rig, but ANY CTD ought to be allowed, no matter how bad your trailer looks...

Dakota Ridge is right close to the highway and very good central location. It is a very nice campground and kinda a neat place to stay for being more or less right in town. I'd say it's your best choice.
