Howdy folks, my 98. 5, 24 valve has 256k on the clock with the original injectors and VP44. I monitor lift pump pressure very closely. My economy has somewhat diminished over the past few months even though the truck runs well, so I figured it probably could use a set of injectors. After chasing a bunch of threads on this site, I decided to order a set of Bosch 0432193635's or RV275 from Midwest Fuel Injection Serice as they were recomended in several threads.

I hate to bad mouth a company on here, but a young lady answered the phone and I said I needed to verify the price of a part # and possibly place an order. It was all downhill from there she very rudely asked me a series of questions about the application and various things, I tried to assure her that I had done my reseasrch and just wanted a price for the part # I gave her. She put me on hold, then another lady came on the phone and began arguing with me saying the part # that I gave the other gal was a marine injector and did I intend on installing them in a marine engine or no? I again tried to explain to her that I had done my research and, No I intended to install them in a Dodge truck, and I knew what I was talking about. Then she said she was reluctant to sell them to me because she thought I was wrong in the application, but she had them on the shelf, price $510 plus shipping. I told her that my research indicated they were selling around $300 for the set. She said there was no way she could sell them for that price.

After hanging up the phone and being more than a little bit irked, I called Pensacola Diesel who sells a set of New +50 horsepower injectors by a non disclosed company for $225 shipping included. The guy said they had a 1 yr warranty and many satisfied customers. I went ahead and placed the order.

Sorry about the length of this, I just needed to vent a little bit. Any feedback would be apprieciated. Has anybody here used these injectors before.

'98. 5 Reg Cab, 4x4, 256k, 5-speed, 3. 55's, still original VP44, original clutch, 4" turbo bac:confused:k exhaust, Van AAken box.

Hey, same year, miles, with original VP and injectors here. I just recently put in the RV275's. I ordered from Piers Diesel, and for @$400 I got new 275's with new connector tubes delivered to my door in under a week. AND, they were very nice to deal with! I got @ 1. 5 mpg increase and a much smoother power band. Don't forget to replace the connector tubes with your new injectors! Our year (98. 5) requires new tubes with injector swap.

erob why didn't you just go on Midwest website and buy them, I bought them there with no hassle and no core charge. $300.

i guess I wasn't aware that Midwest diesel had a web site, I found them referenced in a thread and a 1-800 number so I called. I'll look at their site. What is the deal with the transfer tubes. Was it a design change or what, this is the 1st I've heard of that. Why the crap does 1 thing always lead to something else??? Still does anybody have feedback on the injectors sold by Pensacola Diesel????

3 weeks ago bought RV275's from Midwest but through the internet at the $300 price. Of course I dealt with no physical person so no problem. I would have been like you and ordered from someone else if I got that kind of hassle even if it cost more. I cannot help you on the injectors with Pensacola sorry. I do know my 2001 did not need tubes but possible other years do. It can be frustrating at times when replacing one part and find you need another as well. Sorta goes with the modification of vehicles and from my own experience does not matter diesel or gas it happens. I hope things get easier for you and by the way the install was not all that hard so that should help some.

The 98. 5 year had different injector connector tubes than later year models. They do need to be replaced upon an injector swap. Its not a big deal, they just weren't good for multiple "torque-downs".

Also keep in mind that diminishing performance at that kind of mileage could be a VP44 wearing to the point where it cannot advance the timing like it is being instructed to. Might want to check for the 0216 code (which may or may not show up). The upside is the VP's from year 98. 5 seemed to have a good reliability history compared to some other years.

Probably, the new injectors will bring back the :) factor. Genuine Bosch RV275's are a good running injector (not a racing injector) but seem to be a good match for our bosch injector pumps for giving nice overall improved drivability.

I found Midwest's web site and you guys were right. There in front of my face was the very same part# I gave the lady for $300 she told me $510, that doesn't even make any sense why they would have 2 different prices in thier computer system when she looked it up. Wish I would have known that they had a site at the time, then I could have told her she didn't know what she was talking about. Oh well, no since frettting about it I have the Pensacola Diesel injectors on the way already. Thanks #@$%!

I have a 96 12valve which I recently installed a set of Pennsecola HP Injectors, they work great. Decent mileage, starts great, no problems to date!

Lets hope someone in management at Midwest is reading these posts as some other vendors do. I am sure they would be very interested in your experience and perhaps take action to correct it. I know I would if it was my company. At the very least maybe some more training of employees should be forth coming.
