I remember seeing all that and I'm still a youngster. I've been interest in 5th wheels ever since. My first RV was a 1968 10 1/2' Travel Queen Cab-Over-Camper in 1972. Remember those round top campers. After that was a 5th wheel on my 71 F250 Ferd gasser 390.

OK, lets have a flashback to the early 70's, say 1972 when 5th wheels were just starting to show up in the RV world. May I please see a show of hands that remember the 5th wheel that was made to attach to the roof of cars??????? Had a special hitch and everything. Hummm... 1... 2... not to many. Does this mean I'm old????????

I remember seeing one on US 13 on the way to VA Beach as a kid. Moose, who must be geting old!!! :-laf :-laf :-laf

I once saw a Cadillac with a fifth wheel hitch. That was a much 'cleaner' installation than this SUV tailgate conglomeration!

First one i ever saw was on the local evening news in the early 60s, I believe. It was attached to the top of a Cadillac Sedan and had a large post through the roof and attached to the floor. The trailer overhang was so long the driver could just drive around in circles and the trailer did a slow do-si-do movement in the parking lot where they filmed it. I WAS rather new and weird at the time.

I saw the rig in question last week at the Flying J in Amarillo. The guy winters in Florida and was headed back to Utah for the summer. He used to drive a Duramax but due to the price of diesel getting so high he decided a gasser was the way to go. He picked up that little Blazer for an even swap with some college kid in Florida who thought he just had to have a Duramax. He should be back to Utah by now. :-laf
