You'll have to talk to the gal's about the cooking, I just do the eating

Packing of people and gear in, and game out, food in, and game out, more food in, and more game out, is what I do, AND LIKE IT!!

Going to have to add a mule or three more to the string now that the camp is 20 miles in one way, its a pretty hard day in the saddle to make 2 trips non stop + With tying down game on one end and Groceries, hay/Grain coming back to camp. It helps a BUNCH if the folks on each end have things ready so all that has to be done is toss it on, tie it down and saddle up.

Your Butt gets plenty of wrinkles in it from Sept 6 to Nov 30 Archery and rifle season and even more now that Jason has started a fishing trip season that starts in June, snow permitting.

At the end of Sept you looking forward to the winter so you can rest up by just having to shovel snow everyday !!:-laf

BIG,

You're just rubbing it in to us M-F 9-5 types. Scenery, Mules, Horses, Bears, Elk, Fishing and all that neat stuff plus Penny making all that chow you shovel down. But guess what, Mr. Nasty when it snows here in SC most folks get panicky buy out the Walmart and stay home! Then the solar snow shovels come out a day later and life starts over again.:D

Wayne,

The cardboard box is a big box and all sides have added slip in panels that are wrapped with HD foil. The top panel is supported by the sides and back panels. Front flap is closed for cooking. Charcoal goes into to aluminum pans raised up on 3 small stones and there is an air intake on the bottom under each pan also some holes in the top to vent. Not enough air flow and the coals can go out. Its fun and yields some great results. I have made pizza in it, took a frozen pie baked like normal but my big project was to make one in a 20" Lodge cast iron skillet. It was a monster project took a bit longer to cook but disappeared after it got sliced up.

I just spent a week in Utah, we entered St George and made our way to Richfield Utah. From there, we took a lot of back roads enjoying the countryside, and many roads were open ranges and we stopped to talk to the cattle (no they didn't answer back) while going to Bryce then across the I-70 to Grand junction. Then up to Salt Lake from Green River, and I never saw any Loons, but once we were in Salt Lake, thats where the mood changed. This guy was probably a transplant from SoCal and got his training in Salt Lake. Me and the Bro took a ride on a couple Harleys and rode through the Wastatch mountain range and again the citizens were awesome until we rode back down to Salt Lake. They must take a mandatory class on how to honk their horn in the most rudest way possible. Had some guy sit on his horn while I waited for some Loon to go through the red light and not hit me while on the Harley.

If this guy honked at you Big, he was from Salt Lake, :-laf:-laf:-laf:-laf:-laf:-laf

I too have had some bad experience with rude drivers in Salt Lake. When going through Utah, I stop to fill up in Salt Lake because Diesel is much higher in the rest of the state. They will not let you get on the Interstate when pulling a 5er. You just can't accelerate as fast as a car with a load behind you. Los Angeles area may be worse however.

I did some work at Hill AFB around 2000 and the merge lanes there were about 3/4 of a mile long, I thought it was great.

No Grizz we don't and have NEVER thought of an RV Park, its a PITA to have to deal with the tourists the first few weeks of the tourist season. They are running around trying to get as much fun in the day as the can, and end up missing the best part of this place. Quiet and Beauty is the idea. There are a few forest service campgrounds long Hwy 83, as far as campgrounds go they are about average, Way to noisy for me. During the summer lots of boats and jet skis run the lake, even during mid summer that water is Frigging cold but they still go for it.

We had a few visitors today, We were filling the hay loft with 3 loads of hay when the Sheriff and another car pulled up. Took a break and the Sheriff came over and asked if we would talk to the Children of the old folks that Trespassed on our property and drove to the house. We had no problems with that, they said that their Parents are 79 and suffer from ????? (old people forget type thing) Her Father hadn't been taking his meds and her Mother cant see well enough to help he out she has Cataracts.

Tom (the Sheriff ) asked if I was going to file on the Trespassing violation? We never had any intention of filing charges, we just tried to tell them that this is our property and told them how to get to the RV Park is all. They were the ones that became belligerent about the whole thing. So No I think that they should get some help, I don't think that the Man was really coherent he had a glazed look in his eyes, that's when she told me about being off his med's. I was going to let them sit and figure out where they had gone wrong. Her Parents got out of her car and talked to us, Said he was sorry about all this. Hey Pard we all get confused ever so often, long about midnight on Fridays im pretty out there myself. :-laf

He seen the mules and went to look at them, while we talked to his Daughter, she thanked us for not pressing charges on them, the gun charge is still a problem, but its not by our doing. Tom asked if they could stay he had an Emergency call, They stayed and had lunch and took a look around the RV Park :-laf

He said the same thing as you Grizz you should open one up you would do fine here this is a nice place. He was really into the Mules, so we took them for a ride on the hay wagon that they were hitched up to, drove over to the fence line that separates our two properties, BIL and Ours. The old guy said now this is a Hotel not an RV Park, it may be but when you have to mow the lawn its the golf course of the Hotel :) They stayed a bit had lunch, thanked us again and left. Just hope they get some help now, it could have been lots worse.

Its fun to live here and all but, there is ALWAYS something that needs tending to. The Spring, Summer, Fall are all the times that you HAVE to get ready for the Winter, you cant wait until Winter hits cause its way to late then, its not a club med. Yes I enjoy it but it does become a JOB at times. Penny's Parents are living with us now, there was a happening with a family member, and I didn't like them living half a mile away. It was a luck thing that I was outside and heard some yelling, and put a stop to it. My in-laws are in their late 80's Penny and I feel much better that they are with us, FIL is ALWAYS tinkering around in my shop and MIL is over with the Daughter that she missed 36 years of being with her so this way they can make up for some of that lost time. Actually that picture is their old home that Penny's Brother moved into. Way to much for an 87 year old man to try and tend to.

That is some of the most beautiful land in the country BIG. My wife and I have always loved Montana. I really don't blame you for not wanting a bunch of people around. If I had something like that I wouldn't tell anyone nor even post pictures of it.

There's lot-o-room here, in our town the land is getting kind of pricey. But there are some places near Lincoln MT that a buddy and his wife bought 380 acres of bare land, so remote that he will have to build a garage at the main road and leave his transportation at the road and take a snowmobile in during the winter. You cant be someone that needs people and live like that, I need people to an extent, I don't need strangers but do need family and close friends. The buddy above and his wife are loners they don't need anyone, the only reason that I know him is from hunting and packing helped him out once with a lame animal by taking the load off of it and we have been beer buddies since.

Our Son lives on close to 4,000 acres with a town population of 800 and has close to 3,000 head of cattle as neighbors :-laf They love the isolation and hate to go to town, to many people, noise, traffic, and to much BS :-laf

STILL LOT-O-ROOM GRIZZ!!!

Beautiful driveway, we have gates mostly to keep our Labs in and other dogs out also gives them full run of the yard. We live in a small home with small yard, but just having the front fence and gates has detoured a lot of non wanted people from coming in. I grew up on a ranch with a long drive and our back property was the ocean cliffs, quite often people would come down looking for access most turned around and left a few I remember my Dad going out and talking with them never that I remember being an argument. As you we don't like signs, does your drive go up to a dirt road or paved. Maybe talking to the campground you might be able to convince them to put out better signs with how many miles to their spot. Hope that one idiot doesn't make you change your lifestyle by having to gate or put up signs. Thanks for the story and pictures.

The signs have been up, I really didn't want them but I REALLY didn't want people driving down the driveway MORE!! That pic is the driveway from the Hwy as far as you can see the dirt. in the road there is a T just before that that makes a left and goes about another 75 yards to the house past that is another 200 yards to the barn with a shop someplace in the middle of the house and Barn.

The campgrounds are on the South end of town we are on the North end of town 10 miles out so this guy was really off course and just confused is all, I don't go running out with a gun in hand to make any of them leave. MOST as soon as they make the turn know that they have made a mistake stop and turn around and leave.

As far as this old guy he was just confused and off his meds, I hope that when we ALL get old that someone will take the time to tell me where I may have gone wrong before kicking the **** out of me.

The wife still wants the gates, we leave sometimes for a few weeks, somebody is always around to tend to the animals but she wants a more secure place.

Well you could put the gate down the drive a ways, so they have to back out. It would be like sitting at your campsite watching people parking their RVs.

No I don't think so we have a GIANT PINE TREE at the entrance to the driveway. The Hwy makes a turn and at least 10 times a year they zero in on the tree head on. The tree ALWAYS seems to win the contest, its missing some bark but still stands tall and solid, I DON'T NEED ANY MORE THINGS TO GO WRONG WITH RV'ERS BACKING UP!!

Been putting in lots of hours around the homes and cattle so the wife said to saddle up two RV's and lets go for a ride, Nephew and his Girl came also to check snow levels for fish camp. This is RVing the way we like to get away from the city.

Like he want all us noisey ( or is that nosey ) people hanging out at his place. Maybe he could get us a deal at the park down the road. :-laf

I like Montana, remins me of Alberta. Unfortunatly I live 200 miles from the mountains. :(

Like I have said and Penny has said, we don't mind people coming up we just have to know WAY IN ADVANCE that its going to happen. We work the 5 or 6 months to get ready for the 6 or 7 months of winter. We cant just up and drop what we are doing, but if we know its not hard to take a break. This year is Penny's Garden Fairy's that are coming up

Winter don't wait, it comes prepared or not, Fall is most often MY time for the outdoors. I have kind of missed that full 3 months of Fall the last couple of years for various reasons, this year IM NOT GOING TO MISS IT, NOT ONE DAY OF IT!!

You have to ask yourself if your a little bit iffy on the edge :-laf
