Joke of the day...

What the cost of living? what 's the best area to live in? how much does it cost to register a vehicle?

BTW, this is for my roommate not me! Unfortunatly he drives the F brand, he has yet to see the light:-{} He is tired of the oil field and is looking for a diesel tech position away from it. He has an interview with Stuart Stevenson, any comments about them good or bad?

If he's going to work up at that end of the world, I'd recomend checking into Broomfield, Brighton, Erie and some of those areas. They tend to be a little cheaper than the Denver metro cities (Northglen, Thorton, Etc).

As for cost of living, it will be significantly higher than WY.

The cost of housing is quite high. Figure on $200K for a sort of nice home, and go up from there. The rest of the cost of living is pretty normal IMHO.

I'd have to agree with Scott. I live in Brighton (About 20 minutes north of Denver) and the cost of living here is tons cheaper then my parents whom live in Thornton.

If I can help you gather any information feel free to send me an e-mail.

Kev

Thanks, for the info.

He more than likely will be looking for an apartment, not a house since he is single. He is on his way down there today, to do the interview tommaro. if they offer him enough starting pay he will be looking for places.

K_arts I sent you an E-mail.

I left Colo front range 3 years ago to get out of the crowds and the out of control growth. They closed down my gun club to put in a mall and 5 cagillion homes near loser-ville! In his line of work he can work anywhere and make a decent living. Depends on where he wants to live. I still do most of my work down there, from home here and cringe  everytime I have to go down there. The growth is starting to plane off a bit. I'm very happy in Cheyenne, the people are very friendly and the climate is good. The wind keeps many people away which is just fine with me. Just my . 02

He is also looking at a rock crushing job in Cheyenne. I think he was either going to talk to them today or tommaro (sp?) and see if he can get an interview with them. I can't remember the name of the company.

I recently saw a tv news story saying that Adams county, including that neck of the woods, over built condos. As a result they are very competitive for rent.

Also, tell your friend it may be worth while to look into buying. I know many people who are buying their first home as mortgage payments are real close to most rent around here.

A little trick for the spelling, since there is no spell checker: I open up Word at the same time. If I am not sure I type the word in to that and check it. It's not fool proof, but it helps those of us who are typing impaired.

MilehiScott

Thanks for the tip, I will have to do that.

I will tell him about buying a house instead of renting an apartment.

Again, Thanks
