What happened to the GLTDR ?

Mopar Nats

You guys got room for one more old 12 valve?

As long as I can get it back to getter before the event. I lost my head gasket again. Should have some new toys on there by then too... ... I love them tax returns.....

Lucas

Lucas,

How is it that the head gasket is getting lost ? :{

I'm thinking about a move upward in my timing to the 17-18 area. Oo.

I have the original head gasket & bolts still in that rascal. :-{}

How does that 12v run with more timing ?

Just a thought.

Thanks,

WAYNES WORLD

Well I lost it the first time because I turned on the water meth... ... Once 53 twice 53 but never three times 53 lbs boost..... Got lots of oil in the radiator.

This last time I did not put studs in. In fact I reused the stock bolts this was not the right way to do it. I had water shouting out the side of the block between number 5 and 6. Took the head off and on of the head bolts was in 2 pieces.

About the timing I have a timing set with me that I can bring if anyone want to change there timing. I would get a new nut and washer before then for the pump. It takes me about 45mins to change mine.

I have ran up 21 degrees timing on my pickup. The more timing you run the better change you have of losing a head gasket. I would say you are alright at 17-18 but I would be ready to change out the head gasket.

curtis, its not nasa's truck, just use your timing pin if you can locate that way you can pop that pin out and make a new one of you have acess to a lathe, or find tdc anyway you can i just use the pin on my stuff, i tried the drop valve but its to much of a hassel and the pins close enough to do it with. remember its just timing and it can be redone anytime. once you find tdc its only a few mins till your done. hope everything works out for the best for you though, are you doing anything different to it for the d-day? boy its warm, gotta be close to may Oo.

matt

Matt i could not get the damn pin to engage. I got ****** and almost said "[insert naughty word here] it" But i made a phone call and got it all straightened out... for now. I need to just double check my TDC, but i have no time what-so-ever :(

The truck is driving with no shroud no valve cover, cover, took my turbo heat shield off... . all until i get my timing done!!!

I'm trying to get a couple of things done for my b-day, and before the dyno day. If all works out as planned hopefully i will be VERY impressed!!

Back to work to make another . 25

Curtis

HONESTLY! you guys are busting my bal*s! hahah Ill get it painted as soon as I get a 1/4" line "T" to accept a 3/4 quick couple for onboard air :) I just have to get it finishd for a trip to CMU to visit the brother and freak some college kiddies out. :D Hopefully it will be nice up there and I can spook quite a few unsuspecting souls :-laf I know I know I shouldnt but... . if ya have em use em!

Curtis-John when are we goign to STACK YOUR TRUCKS??? HUH! hahah

Anyone want to go to cincy next saturday?

Ian

the kids and i are working on mom (it kind of is her truck ;) ) she thinks, have to go see greg fo trans checkup it may happen then :D

IS IT MAY YET?

LOL john while you're up there get a set of those traction bars also. Tell the wife their for the stability of the camper. Wich would be true ;)

Ian i have enough dough going out in other places on this damn truck..... LOL I'd love to stack it, but priorities are a *****!.

Seriously like the horn setup. What's the total cost on that ? Hook me up with some!!

Curtis

If I can get my d*mn trans fixed I'll definately be there. (I hate when you put it in neutral and it goes forward, and when you put it in reverse and it goes 10 feet and locks up. . . sometimes) Just got a new turbo from JR yesterday (baby schwitzer) so I'd like to see what it'll do. Only thing that may hold me up is my truck is hopefully getting painted in the next few weeks. (As long as it doesn't get pushed back) '99 painted 3rd gen blue with 3rd gen, eblems and greg's stacks (as soon as I can get the cash together for them) What's it cost to run the dyno there? . . .

its alive!! Oo. Oo. Oo. i just got the ol work truck done and running tonight, needs some minor work tomarrow but its moving under its own power!! i finaly have my 98 5spd, and it goes pretty good with a 100 and 3k kit, a little doggy off the bottom at 17* but nothin to bad.

matt

Matt what clutch did ya throw in that thing ? Glad to hear ya got'er up and goin!

Scott $52 will do it. Where you from anyhow?

UPDATE TIME!

DynoServe contacted me Fri.

1) PortaPotty would be great. Anybody know where and how much $$ they are? Friends in the business ??

2) Camping is still up in the air. They need to contact the higher up muckidy mucks in the county, and make sure they'll permit it.

3)They have found a way to speed up the dyno process, but still keep the same commitment to quality, and customer happiness. The way they described it to me, "bring on 20 to 30 trucks for the weekend, we'll find a way to get 'em done" <-- short context.

4) MOST IMPORTANT!!!!!!!!! DynoServe wants all of us that are going to run the rollers fill out a form on their website. They are in the process of making the form, don't try to fill it out right now. I will let everyone know whats needed for the form, and when the forms are ready to fill out!!!

Just because you fill out the form you DO NOT have to dyno. Accidents do happen, it is not a binding agreement.

Just because you DID NOT fill out the form prior to coming, doesn't mean you won't have a chance to run. You can fill out the info upon arrival. This step will only slow down the whole day of running!

Is it may yet?

Curtis

i had a "special" clutch made for it, its a ceramic single disc 13". it works great. did you ever get your timing done curtis? i would stay at about 15* or so, mine at 17* is a bit laggy on bottom but comes right alive at the top, i got some plate adjusting to do and i think i will be happy. i love that saying now "take your auto and stick it!" :-laf i couldnt be happier with my stick, except i can smell gear oil from the transmission and the gauges dont work  but with time it will be fixed, it even looks good now! i will get a pic on here for you guys to see tomarrow. it gets it first trip tomarrow to grand rapids, im working on the 28th street overpass at 131, so if your going that way expect delays.

matt

Curtis,

I actually live in Waterford. The truck I have is Chip Fisher's old truck. (Blue chip diesel) So it's been well used it's whole life! Where are all you guys from?

I'm from Albion, Lower Central MI. Sounds like it's well used. What #'s do you think you'll run ?

Matt i still haven't gotten back to my timing. I need to hurry up though, it's getting warmer and i still don't have my fan on that damn thing.

Curtis

My wife ran it last year at milan, It went 14. 80 at 7400# 2wd, that's not too bad. I'd like to see if I can get it in the 13's with the new turbo, and new injectors. We'll see though. It had a full 55 gallons of fuel in it when she ran it, so I know that there is probably 3-4 tenths right there. The biggest problem is getting it to hook. I think If I turned the sub setting down on the drag comp it would help get it off the line. I just had her run it at 5x5, but 5x3 or 5x2 maybe better. I have questions about the head gasket too, so I may end up o-ring/studs so then I can put the bottle on it, or water/meth or whatever. . . I'm usually a just say no to drugs guy, but I could be persuaded!!!)

DynoServe LLC posting as I-6DZL

Good Afternoon,

I-6DZL was kind enough to let us use his TDR Handle to make this posting to the forum.

DynoServe is very happy to announce that we have added a section to our website to facilitate the members attending the Diesel Dyno Weekend. The new pages contain information about our dyno's capabilities as well as a pre-registration form. By using the pre-registration form it allows us to do all the paperwork ahead of time. That way we can focus on Dyno'ing and not pesky State of Michigan paperwork. The new pages can be found at http://www.dynoserve.com. Click on the TDRGL link for all the new info.

If you have any other questions feel free to post them here and we'll do our best to answer them quickly.

Regards,

Jeff Drongowski
