I've got a 2001 H. O. and was wondering if its possible to run a standard output pump on it. I've heard some say yes and some say no. Anyone with personal experience? I know a hotrod pump will work but they are a lot more expensive.

It will work fine. I was sent an SO pump by mistake and didn't look. It ran just fine, a little less power, not much, but no codes. I did chg it out with a HO pump though.

My dealer screwed up and put a standard output on mine under warranty . I didn't like it at all and had to fight with him a bit to change it out . Yes , it works , but you'll definitely notice the power loss .

If you get an SO ECM for a 2001 manual and use it in conjuntion with the SO pump it will run like an SO truck.

Well, there's still the difference between the injectors. From Dave Fritz's tech data:

(ETH) Injectors: Designed to provide increased fuel flow.

Injector note posted to the TDRoundtable by tgbol:

ETH injectors (3946306) flow 600cc at 100bars for 30 seconds

ETC injectors (3944828) flow 640cc at the same test.

The ETH pump operates at higher pressure than the ETC to push more fuel through the smaller ETH injectors. With the ETC pump pressures and ETH injectors, the data above says you won't even have ETC performance levels since the ETH injectors will flow less than the ETC at a given pressure.

Oops - missed the Mach 5s. The comments would apply for the 1 or 2 people in the world who still have stock HO injectors, though.

I've asked this question before and couldn't come up with a good awnser, so It will fit and it will run right and with larger injectors it will make good power, but will it work for those of us wanting more power than a HO pump will support? (500+)?

Thanks Jared

Sooo, what are you up to now, Ratcliffe? Never quite enough power eh? ;)

Well, very soon, the truck is going to make a very long trip back east for some upgrades (twins, top secret auto :D , traction bars, etc) and I might have the opportunity for a pump swap while I'm at it.

Well keep me posted! I'd love to stick one of those autos in the '98 :D

I almost stopped by this afternoon, I was cruising around Desert Estates looking at lots, but I was hurrying since the sun was about to disappear.
