I'm Losing!! I Have Problem At Low End Acceleration (that Has Confused Alot Of People Here)it Blows White Soke And Misses, 2nd Gear Is The Worst Also Or Just To Stomp On It Out Of Gear Pops On Blows White Smoke. When The Truck Is Cold It Does It Worse. So I Started By Replacing The Fuel Heater Because We Thought It Was Fried. The Bango Bolt Has Alredy Been Changed And Last Night I Changed The Fuel Pump Due To Low Pressure. The Problem Is Still There. I'm Going To Clean That Bolt On The Return Line (banjop Bolt Is What I Call It Just That Pressure Regulator). If Any One Has Seen This Or Solved This Help!!! The Kicker Is We Have Checked Timing On The Pump Seems To Be Okay Acts Like Its Drawing Air Somewhere.

A signature to tell us what kind of truck you have and what mods, if any, have been done to it would help a lot in trying to help you.

Are you absolutely 100% positive that the timing is correct? I know you said that you checked it, but I have seen alot of members have trouble getting it right. I'm not picking on you, just asking because everything you are saying this truck is doing sounds like symptoms of late timing.

The bolt on the return line is the overflow valve, if you are having low fuel pressure then that is more likely the cause than the fuel pump. Take the overflow valve apart and check the spring, I believe it should be . 550 inch tall. If it is not then stretch it out to that length and see how the truck runs. If that makes the truck run right then replace the overflow valve, the stretched spring won't hold for very long before it gets squashed down again.

There are two rubber fuel lines on the back of the engine that are a PITA to get to that are known to cause problems. They deteriorate and allow air to leak in but generally don't leak fuel out at first. These lines may be the source of your problem, but generally they cause a hard start condition but are not really noticeable once the truck is running.

I hope some of this helps, let us know what you try and how it comes out.

I have the same exact prob. with my97 dually except it is intermittent right now its changing back to almost running right mine has even shut right off on me timing is ok have changed the overflow v. I now am playing with the fuel heater element. I DONT WANT TO ATTACK THOSE HOSES THOUGH. Especially if I havent eliminated everything else possible.

On My Truck I Have Put The 350 Injectors, #11 Plate, 35hybrid Turbo But It Had Started Doing This Before The Turbo). I Live Near Park City, Utah. No Offense Taken To The Timing Comment It Is Still In The Back Of My Head It Was Only Done With The Mopar Key And Set #1 Cylinder To Tdc. So With 194000 Miles Like Most Pumps Do It Could Be Slower. The Other Reason I Think It Is Not The Pump Is No Ruff Idle And I Don't Lack Any Power (ask So Of The Guys I Work With They Drive Fords). I'm Just Gald Someone Is Willing To Help And Share Knowledge. Also Start Up Is Fine The Only Reason On The Bolt Is Alot Of It Is When The Should Be A Real Change In Pressure Of Fuel And I Have Been Told That It Can Suck Air Through There.

What year is your truck?

You might try loosening the bleed screw on the output side of the fuel filter. Then pump the manual button on the lift pump and see if you get any air at the bleed screw. It would be a very good idea to put a fuel pressure gauge on it and see what that looks like. Especially when it is acting up.

White Smoke and Miss

I would also say that your timing is retarded, my buddy just went through the same thing on his 96.
