I'll be getting one in my truck here in a few weeks, what can I expect out of this clutch?? Cumminsgetme hasn't had any problems with it, I was just gonna see if anyone else was running it.

Thanks,

Willie

Somehow I knew Gene wouldn't pass up the opportunity to get in another jab. :)

After watching the sled pulls first hand, I now understand the abuse a sled puller's clutch must take. Those guys are vicious.

I wouldn't recommend sled pulling with it, but other than that it should be okay. Once that clutch is engaged, it will stick.

The Sachs clutch is a little grabby. Backing up a trailer at low speeds is rough. But, the clutch is designed to hold high horsepower and torque and it does that. It doesn't like sled pulling from what I hear though. :)

I've seen one do a couple of third gear burnouts with a shift to fourth gear and not slip so it does what it's supposed to do.

Here's a little video of that burnout for a year or so ago.

See Mike, it's on the web again. :)

The Sachs is very aggressive, if your looking for smooth this ain't it, but whats going to hold the kind of power that we can make and be smooth.

There's not much difference between engaged and disengaged, its either in or out, the thing just doesn't understand "slip".

Gitch: Good video, who's driving that thing?? 3rd to 4th shift in the middle of it  he must be the man :D

Mine has lasted me two years now. Yeah, it holds. But it's hard to live with on a daily basis. It barks the rear tires, all 4 of 'em, on light throttle take offs. every time. And the pedal effort is horrible, especially with the arthritis in my left foot.

The housing is cast iron, as opposed to the SBC's steel.

The installation takes a special technique to get the disc centered.

At the time we all bought ours, that's almost all that was out there, other than the dual disc pulling clutches.

The SBC is a better choice in my opinion, in a side-by-side comparision. And it's backed by a warranty and service that cannot be beat. It installs easily. It has near stock clutch pedal effort.

I never did get the time or money to change my clutch out, perhaps that will change this year. It'll be either an SBC or a Mitchell pulling clutch.

Do I regret getting the Donnelly Re-Engineered Sachs? No. It's served me well, and I'm grateful. But I see an opportunity to move on to something that may fit my needs better... .

Gitchesum, "grabby" ? a "little grabby" ? :D The only two things in the world that'd be grabbier than a D. R. E. Sachs would be a male teenager in the Playboy Mansion, or an octopus in a swimming pool full of bowling balls.

Hey I only drove the truck once or twice. I haven't driven his new one yet. Not sure if the re-aligned pucks are any better. :)

My SBC works great. It don't much care for the 3rd gear launches though. :D :D

Should your SBC ever start slipping(doubtful with all the power you can through at it) I'm sure Peter and you can work out a deal, he is a great guy, like a Piers for the clutch crowd.

:D Andrew:D

P. S. -Sometimes I wish I had a manual so I could get one. ;)

Psst Andrew. you do have an auto. :D :D

That's what that little stick on the steering column is for. :-laf

Although I am curious where he would put the SBC in an auto :-laf

Man was I in a hurry.

Ok, first of all I ment to say that even though the SBC is just about THE BEST clutch on the market, the Donally Sachs will be able to do a good job too.

Andrew

P. S. What are you guys talking about with the auto thing? ;)

But Curtis, I can make a whole post that has never been posted that can read that. ;)

Listen to Tom(Briar Hopper). I had the chance to meet him this weekend, and he is one of the smartest folks, I think, I have met on these boards yet.

Andrew

:D :D :D :-laf :-laf If I was really smart, maybe I wouldn't have bought a Cummins Ram in the first place and gotten mixed up with such a crazy bunch of people from all over the United States !

Thankee kindly, though, Andrew!
