Official Diesel Sled Pull Aug. 3rd Fulton, MO

Hi all,

As part of the diesel breakfast I'm planning in Sacramento for August 3rd, it has been suggested that we go drag racing also. Well, the Sacto raceway has moved their test & tune racing to Friday nights during the summer. They have a grudge match race event from 6:00 PM - Midnight on August 3rd, but I just spoke with the owner of the track, and explained we have 15 or more trucks interested in racing. He told me that he likes to make car clubs happy, and if I can get a decent number of trucks to commit to being there, he would open the track 2 - 3 hours early just for us!!!!!! and then we can race against each other (and not have to wait in long lines... ) and race as much as we want for a couple hours before they start their normal evening event, and of course we can race that night as well.

Please, please let me know if you will commit to this, so I can call the guy back and give him a solid number, and if enough trucks are coming to race, he'll do this for us.

Thanks,

Tom

I will guarantee I'll be there if you guarantee it won't be any hotter then 72. 5 degrees:) Wilt wilt

I'll be there.

For you and the Red Rocket... ... I will order a balmy 70*F day Nowel :-laf :-laf :-laf

Ok, so far I have heard from about 6 confirmed trucks... . if we can get in the neighborhood of 15, these folks will be happy to let us have the track to ourselves for a couple hours.

Come on everybody, let's RACE!!!

Tom

Nowell, did you get some stronger clamps for the turbo hoses?:)

Dang, sounds like I'll miss a good get together. You guys have a good time, be careful. I'll catch a fish for you! I leave this Saturday.

I rebuilt the pipe from the primary turbo discharge to the intercooler. This way I eliminated the soft 45* connector going onto the CAC. It would blow up like a cantelope under pressure. Then I double clamp all the connections. We are holding over 70 psi now.

UPDATE

Just spoke with Dave at Sacto raceway. They are going to let us in to race for 2 hours by ourselves, before their main event starts.

Details:

* Gate will open for us at 3:00 PM

* We start racing at 4:00 - 6:00 PM, then we can stick around for the grudge matches that go from 6:00 - midnight

* Cost: $35/racer, $5/spectator

* Spectators can park in the pits, with racers, so we can all be together.

* We *must* have at least 20 trucks show up for them to open early for us.

We'll meet for lunch at Bradshaw's restaurant sometime between 12:30 - 1:00 PM, and then go racing. I will have my cell phone on all day, so if you need directions, or anything else, feel free to call me 530-305-5279

Yeah, Baby!!!

Just keeping this at the top in case anyone hasn't stumbled on it yet, since the big day approaches... ... :D

Where is everyone, I don't see much up here from last night. Sorry we couldn't be there earlier last night but the Red Rocket had an attitude and needed to be dealt with. I sure had a great time even with the limited amount of track time. Thanks for putting it together Tom.

BPine,

Did you guys make it up with the Rocket? I left at six and hadn't seen it yet. Good fun overall, I think a marron Ford had the best e. t. but the best sound was a white PSD with nos blowing a headgasket halfway through his run! He was looking for a trailer last I saw. Not a happy boy!:{

Made It To The Show!

Kent, we pulled in while the white Ford was being loaded on a roll back near the entrance to the strip. That was Bryan Kenny who we call "Psychostroker". He needs to O-ring those heads asap!

So as I mentioned, we made the program with monumental efforts on the part of Chris Sutton and Blair PineOo. Chris helped me a ton, had to finish another project to even begin work on the "Rocket".

The biggest problem was snapping a stud off in the deck while torquing the head down. It was tricky trying to get that broken section out since we had to work THROUGH the 1/2" hole (4" deep) in the head where the bolt/stud should have been. It finally came out and Blair is to be applauded for getting us back on schedule to make last nights festivities:cool:

The good news is the new set of injectors show a LOT of promise, along with a couple other mods that have been done since Vegas. The bad news is Blair (driving) had a connector hose blow at half track and had to coast through the lights. He still got credit for a 14. 0 run @ only 79 mph:eek: With that kind of time on a botched run I can only dream about how quick we WOULD have been if our string of $%#@y luck had not continued. We fixed the blown hose in the pits and double clamped both sides. But when Blair returned to the pits we knew there were further problems. The primary turbo was showing signs of wear. It was rubbing when the revs were up. I had taken the it to the turbo shop for inspection while the head had been off and was told to run it:( Blowing the hose surely finished off what was a borderline turbo to begin with :{ :{ :{

We still had the satisfaction of getting the Rocket to the event YES(albeit a bit late):D I appreciated seeing all our friends there last night, thanks for coming down. I look forward to getting a fresh turbo on the truck and returning to Sac to put on a good show for you.

Congrats to Tom Golden for organizing this trip, it was a rousing success.

Nowel & Blair - thanks for the support and kind words.

I was fortunate enough in that I just happened to walk up to the track as Blair was staging the Rocket, and I got to see it run.

I am thankful to everyone who made the trip, both the Dodge and the Ford guys from Diesel-Central. Too bad Bryan blew his head gasket though...

Jake Scharosh and Mario ?? turned in near matching 14. 3X times. Don't remember where Greg "Cumminspwr" was, but I think also in the 14's somewhere...

Godzilla isn't a happy camper with his mystery defueling problem :mad: but when I get to the bottom of it, we gonna go back to the track and try to get some much better numbers.
