Me to.

Even his own sons fought it out.

Hopefully, him giving up without a fight will dishearten all but the most radical.

Now maybe the other Iraqis will start fingering the trouble makers.

It doesn't surprise me at all, he's a wimp just like most bullys.

Are all right wing extremists wackos filled with such hate and manipulation that you must take a celebratory event like this and turn it into a negative tool for your political bashing agenda? Or is it just a handful of idiots like you? After the first two words, your bile has no merit whatsoever. In what way is Saddam any American's hero dem or rep? Can you please elaborate?

Ah yes ... another unsatisfied liberal :{ ... and you know that the top dems are unhappy about this, I'm sure Hillery lost her cookies when she got the news. :p

Is it possible to have civil discussion about the capture of Saddam? I would hope that a site comprised of grown adults won't have to resort to baiting and assumptions about how the "other side" feels about it.

IMO, Saddam's capture is good news for most countries. I don't think anyone here will disagree.

What suprised me was that he went down without a fight.

Gitchesum,

Do we have new guidelines for what constitutes acceptable posting on these "Other" board topics? Are political comments / posts forbidden now? I don't want to step over the line and get kicked off, or (God forbid!) hurt somebody's feelings.

Perhaps I am offbase here, but if the capture of Saddam Hussein doesn't qualify as a major political event I'd sure like to know what does.

Maybe somebody can add an electronic sugar-teat to the smilies window? Works good on toddlers so it ought to be great for online use if people are getting bent out of shape on a given topic :p

Well, I still don't think we should've attacked another country, but I'm glad we got Saddam. After all, going into Iraq without getting him would be like going into Afghanistan and not getting Osama... oh, wait.....

I can't say I was surprised Saddam gave up so easily & without a fight.

Bullies are cowards at heart. Stand up to them with Courage and they crumble.

Bin Laden is probably the same way. Another Chicken-Shiite scum-bag. Any decent Marine Corp fighter or Army Ranger could go one-on-one and have him spitting teeth and crying for his Momma in no time.

Mike,

I just don't want this thread to degrade into the type of political thread that people leave the TDR over.

I'm not requesting this as a moderator, but as a member.

I'd rather keep the mood of this thread a happy one. We got Saddam. Our boys did one helluva job in finding him and I'd damn proud of them.

Another thing that I was suprised over is the fact that he was still in Iraq. His hometown even.

If I had a country's army looking for me, the LAST place I' be was in my hometown.

FATCAT,

I'll accept my refund and will be gone. You all can have your right wing extremist website.

I propose that a new forum be established, a "Political DIscussion" forum if you will. That way the thin skinned ones have fair warning.

An honest debate never hurt anyone.

Tim

Don't worry about it. How can you reason with someone who will toss an entire site based on the contents of a forum with this description?

"Not diesel related? Has nothing to do with the TDR or the TDRoundtable. You can still discuss it here -- in the "Other" Forum. "

Insulating them with another layer of forums isn't going to help.

Is the TDR is a Right-wing extremist website?

Gosh, all this time I thought it was a Dodge/Cummins Diesel Extremist Website!:D

ONE DOWN, ONE TO GO!!

However, I don't think he should be executed. I think he needs to be jailed with the general population of Angola Prison in Louisiana or San Quentin in California.

The inmates would gladly pay him back all the torture he has dished out. Maybe they could even broadcast the events live on Al-Jazeera for all would-be martyrs to see.

Hey Steve ... lighten up!!! Grow some skin for crying out loud!!

Who jumped all over who at the start of this tread?

Just listen to Jennin's, Katie Couric, Dan Rather, etc... . how they have reported the capture of Saddam. Their more concerned with the treatment of Saddam and the conditions of his cell, than with the liberation of some 25 million people ... people who will never have to worry about that monster coming back to kill them ... kinda like the folks in old Yugoslavia not having to worry about Slobo coming back.

These "reporters" or "news people" look for only the negative aspects of the news and exaggerate it to the extreme.

I tell ya what ... if right wing extreamism is removing a tyrant like Saddam, then I'm all for it ... just like Ol' Willy Clinton was a right wing extreamist for getting rid of Malosavich.

PS: How come I never here the term Left wing extremist ... humm.

I just heard Barbara Walters say that here is the perfect chance to show the world we are good guys, by not whacking Saddam.

First of all, showing people we are good guys, only gets our buildings knocked down, and second of all, by not nukeing the entire Middle East after 9-11 on general principle alone, has shown anybody who wants to see, we are the good guys.

Did ya hear Saddams daughter wants the trial elsewhere? Prolly France.

Strange after all the good he claims he did for that country, you'd think they would want the trial at home.

I wished they would have turned that whole area into a giant kitty litter box at times, when I see how these people are, and it makes me sick to see some of the things they do, and for no reason.

I do think Saddam needs to be tortured the same way he did to all the people whom he dished it out upon.

As far as politics, y'all are taking them to the extreme, and Steve or Robin will end up closing this thread. I respect the fact that everyone has different views, but its just like religion: you can try your best to convince people to think like you, but everyone has their own beliefs about things. all we do is go around in circles arguing about little things.

Just thought I would add my opinion here.
